Well, you got that part right.
I want to build a team capable of winning another championship, not win a weak division.
Yeah the Pirates, Reds, Brewers, and Cubs fans have been saying that for years.....
If we do get into the post season thats more revenue which gives us - SURPRISE - more money to spend
Plus more importantly it gives our young guys (including Webb and Tracy) much needed experience with something on the line....
Its a cost/benefit that you guys are just not thinking about. Would i give up Upton, Carlos Gonzalez, Montero, Drew, Quentin, or Young for a mediocre innings eater? Uhh....hell no
Would i take a chance to win the division for pretty much any of our marginal pitching prospects....not a question.
Heres the national take i have been hearing from just about everybody. Just because you have been hearing about these guys doesn't mean they are that good....
• It's still possible to make a trade after the deadline, and the Diamondbacks took a worthwhile gamble on
Livan Hernandez. Arizona's thin rotation was adding stress to its bullpen, particularly with ace
Brandon Webb out. "With two ways to get in, we might as well go for it,'' Diamondbacks GM
Josh Byrnes said.
With only the claiming team (Arizona) bidding, Nationals GM
Jim Bowden did OK to peddle Hernandez for a pair of prospects, right-hander
Garrett Mock and left-hander
Matt Chico. One competing GM said, "We had Mock as No. 4 or 5 starter and Chico as a situational lefty.'' Not terrible.
