Runs are coming at a premium lately. I haven't had the opportunity to watch any games since the 8-6 win against the Dodgers, but seems like K's have increased and RISP production has decreased.

This is not sustainable long-term. Shouldn't barely squeak two by (and lose one) to the frickin' Marlins.

Today's game gives a great example of why Wins and Saves can be misleading stats.

Heath Bell gets the save, even though he gave up one run and allowed the tying run to reach base.

David Hernandez gets the win, even though Collmenter was the one deserving.

Agreed. David got out of the inning but they hit everything hard, really hard. Josh on the other hand pitched a 6 inning gem. Travesty. I was at the game and the bats were really connecting on David's pitches. He should count his lucky stars, while Josh is the winner in my eyes.

7 of the 8 (!) runs this series have come via the home run. Not good. Not good at all...

Pretty pitiful when you barely squeak out 2 out of 3, at home, from the worst team in baseball.

the marlins can be competative in streaks ... just typically not enough offense to do anything though ...... they are getting some of their young arms back as the unexepected good pitching from guys like slowey came crashing back to earth

stanton is just coming back along with morrison which should help a little on offense (but not enough to make the team average by any means)

this series also had fernandez (who is a legit top prospect - probably should be in the minors but that is another story), eovaldi who has good stuff but needs to improve some and jacob turner who was also a very highly rated prospect

they are 9-11 in their last 20 and just took a series from the cardinals

I wouldn't sweat it

definitely not a good team, but definitely capable of taking a game from anyone

Agreed. Must mean St. Louis really sucks since they lost 2of 3 to the Marlins over the weekend. I've been as frustrated as anyone but the good news is we still hold first place and reinforcements are coming. I choose to believe Ross, Prado, Montero and company will start trending towards the good. Getting Hill, Chavez, Putz, and Eaton back will only strengthen our depth.

I think the whole Kennedy thing will wake him up for the 2nd half and frankly, as long as Montero provides solid defense and leadership behind the plate, I'm happy. Looking forward to a great series with the Reds this weekend.
