Realgm reports that "experts" are saying Lee and Curry will head to the bobcats for diaw and Bell. I guess D'antoni will get his wish after all

Mike is trying to put together Suns part II, the only bad thing is the east has 3 contenders and there is no way the Knicks get far into or even in the post-season.

Evidently D'Antoni's goal is to reduce the Knicks rebound totals.

Especially once Diaw gets a taste of nightlife in the Big (Rotten) Apple.

He'll be soft as a jelly donut before long.

how is there no way the knicks get into the post season? they are a game and a half out right now, and they went through a pretty big trade earlier in the year so they'll need time to adjust. they came very close to beating the lakers and hung with the celtics for quite a bit too. some of the stuff you come up with, i swear.... besides, the suns are only in the playoffs by a half a game at this point.

This move would further reduce NY payroll by $2.3M in the summer of 2010. David Lee could have been gone after this season if NY wanted to avoid giving anyone long-term contracts before 2010. Same is true for Nate Robinson. NY is not trying to win now, so whether this makes them better in the short-term or worse is irrelevant.

Looks like Walsh stuck to his guns on the Lee extension and refused to pay him in the $8-9 mil dollar range. Dumping Curry is a good move for the Knicks and now Okafor moves to PF with Curry at C.

However, there is one thing that makes no sense, David Lee. Unless Brown is content using him off the bench and trying to extend him, then it seems like this could turn into a 3 way before its all said and done.

I cant see Charlotte extending Lee to back up Curry and Okafor, so a Felton and Lee package makes sense, as does a Lee and Wallace package. The question is who do they get in return and where do Lee and whoever else go?

The third option is to sign and trade Lee this summer, but it makes more sense for this to be a 3 way.

As for Curry, he fits perfectly next to Okafor and into Larry Brown's offense.

Good lord, a classic D'Antoni trade. Lee's value was much higher than that. Had he shopped around at all, he could almost certainly have gotten a better deal.

can I just say that I will die laughing if Lebron signs an extension this summer and Wade does the same after seeing that and after the Heat sign Boozer as a FA leaving the Knicks with... basically no one of note to sign in FA in 2010.

Are we just taking this as fact?

Isn't there a time limit on how quickly you can trade a player once it is consumated? 60 days or something or is that just free agents?

Wasn't Diaw playing very well in Charlotte? I'll expect a real link before I buy this....

Does this mean that the Suns could've gotten David Lee?

But wouldn't that put the Suns in the same predicament? If Amare leaves, we will have almost the same amount of money to spend as the Knicks.

Even if that happened Amare, Bosh, Joe Johnson and Dirk could still be FAs and the Knicks at this point would have enough to sign 3 of them.

sure, but i don't expect the suns to land one of those guys and they're not going out of their way to open up that cap space.

Do you always just read the parts of my responses that suit you? Because it sure seems like it.

lol wth are you talking about? i read the whole response, and part of it was 100% unfounded. i responded to this part, and you have nothing left to say apparently. You turn basketball talk (what i was making) into personal talk (what you make when you post things like the above). it's nothing personal at all. if anyone else would have said the same thing, they would have gotten the same response.

Come on guys, this is still just a rumor. They could trade Diaw for Curry straight up. But if they want to package Bell and Diaw together, one and a half month later.

Even if it turned out to be true, there is nothing to do with us.

Yeah, it doesnt apply to trades unless the player is dumped by his new team.

Actually the rule he is referring to does apply to trades. A recently traded player cannot be packaged with another player by his new team in another trade, though I thought the wait time was 30 days.

A recently traded player can be traded by his new team at any time as long as that team does not include any other players.

Bell is making $5 million this year and Curry is making $9.7 million. So while a Diaw for Curry deal works, Bell for Curry doesn't.

A deal which combined Bell and Sean May for Curry will work when the time lapses. (May is cap filler).

BUT....Curry could be traded for Diaw straight up and i believe that Bell could be traded for Lee and some other filler.

that would result in two separate trades that are well within the rules.
