I didn't want to give this its own thread because it's baseless speculation.

From Real GM.
Hill Interested In Return To Magic?

A year after leaving the team, Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports Grant Hill might want to reunite with the Magic next summer.
His sources say there is mutual interest but nothing can be said because it would be tampering.
Schmitz does suggest a possible swap of Hill and disgruntled Magic guard J.J. Redick which according to our Trade Checker would work under NBA trade rules.

Whoops, I forgot we did have other guard fodder besides Bell.

Reddick, Pietrus and Gortat for Hill, Dragic and whoever's sucking at the time between Amundson and Lopez.

I'm hoping the Suns don't want JJ Redick for Hill; I'm not sure there's a player on the Suns I'd Trade Redick for, let alone for a player in rotation...

First of all, Charlotte cannot package Diaw or Bell in a trade to any team for 2 months, which would put that right near the trade deadline (Feb 10th to be exact).

I'm not certain that your statement is accurate. Wikipedia validates your claim:

If a team acquires a player in a trade, they are allowed to trade that player straight-up for another individual player immediately. However, if they wish to package that player with another and make a trade, the team must wait 60 days before doing so.

However this link does not:

Any other source you can provide to backup your claim?

Yup, http://http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm

Larry Coon has pretty much dissected the CBA and outsourced it to the fans.

The Bell and Diaw can be traded alone at any point, but cannot be packaged with another player (including each other) for 60 days.

When I said Raja is clearly a D'Antoni type guy, I not did mean that Boris is not; but IMHO he was not a god fit for the Suns. He's just not an "energy" guy (on the court at least) and tends to be passive.

My prediction is that Larry Browns idea of no shot util after three passes will simply not work with Raja. The Knicks "bombs away style would be perfect for him.

I think Larry Brwn is going to try to get more out of Diaw. D'Antoni keeps saying he's going to develop Jeffries to do what Diaw does. We'll see.

You know when your former starting SG averages 2ppg 3rpg 1apg 15% in 20mpg for the team he was traded to, as a starter, that you did something right..

Bell was hurting this team, last season and even worse this year.

It's only fitting that he had to leave the game because of comments towards the ref, he acts like a star player when he is nothing more than a role player.
I remember this rumor by someone on realgm with quite a lot of posts who claimed that Raja Bell told him Amare was overrated when he got a chance to ask him some questions in the offseason at Rucker Park or something.

Probably not, but that wasn't the claim. The claim was that the Knicks don't have an expiring contract available.

Geez.

Next I bet you won't let me say that LeBron is untradeable and come up with a scenerio that works under the cap...

Well, sure, if you said that James won't be traded "because he makes too much money," or some other faulty reason, I would probably dispute it.

It's sad when people don't read between the lines instead of looking for ways to critique.

Diaw is playing well, glad to see that. Bell is clearly done. As for teh 60 day rule, no thing exists....

couple seasons ago Rasheed Wallace was traded from Portland to Atlanta, and a few days later he was traded to Detroit.

I think you're still missing the point. I'm happy to continue this conversation by PM if you are interested.

I see your point. I just don't think you have to take everything literally when there are things that should be understood/implied.

No need to continue it further. We're good. No hard feelings.

Wrong.

A player can be traded by himself at any point after being acquired. However, players recently acquired can not be packaged for 60 days.

Charlotte can trade Diaw straight for Curry right now. Raja Bell can be dealt to any team that would be willing to take him alone in a trade.

Seriously? are we still all confused about this?

Section 85 of Larry Coon's CBA

In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:
  • For two months after receiving the player in trade or claiming him off waivers, if the player is being traded in combination with other players. However, the team is free to trade the player by himself (not packaged with other players) immediately. This restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap. (Also see question number 72 for a special case where players can be traded together in less than two months.)

The question was about Diaw and Bell being packaged together in a trade to the Knicks - while individually they could be traded, they cannot be traded in a package, with each other or anyone else, for 60 days.
