Didnt Obama pick the Steelers when we played in the Super Bowl? I could have sworn he did.. But just right now he was asked who he thought would win.. And he said since his Bears were out of it that he doesnt pick after that.. Wtf? Or am I tripping and he didnt pick the Steelers in our Super Bowl?

So what?

Maybe he learned his lessons with yahoos bitching and moaning about him not pulling for their team. Like he needs that to factor into approval ratings, too.

It just seems like such a non-issue to me.

One of the things that bothers me on this board is the way we get our collective feathers ruffled by perceived slights.

as a matter of principle: I believe the President of the US shouldn't take sides in sporting events between Americans. He is everyones President.

Um, it's sports, not a race war. Any side showing sensitivity to someone having an opinion or a preference on a GAME is out of their mind....

I agree except I think they get to pull for the teams where they came from as long as they are bonafide fans. My biggest gripe is when politicians try to suddenly pretend to be a fan when its completely obvious they aren't. I believe Obama is a legitimate sports fan. Not going start talking about Lambert field or anything.

But when you are in a leadership position, I don't think you should take sides.

While it is just sports, people take it seriously.

I do agree with the above: I am willing to give a pass on a true home state allegiance.

Regarding Obama openly taking the Steelers vs the Cards two years ago, my biggest problem with that was he broke the principle because the Rooneys supported his campaign. So he was rooting for the Steelers purely for naked political reasons.

Considering Rooney was one of his biggest supporters, yeah he did and Rooney thanked him after the game. Obama has since repaid him by making him Ambassador to Ireland.

Not to mention that he dissed the Nationals when he threw out the first pitch on opening day last season wearing a White Sox hat.

He picked the Steelers...

Doesn't matter, Obama had two main issues to solve and promised he'd work to solve when he came into office:

The Economy and more importantly a college football playoff ;)

He has done neither..

Who cares?

For those of you who care about this stuff.......Hillary Clinton who I know was a lifelong Cub fan suddenly decided that the Yankees where her favorite team when she ran for the senate from New York.....talk amongst yourselves!!

The Ronney Family although Republican by nature, really did support Obama during his Presidential campaign in 2008.
