I think quite obviously people on this board have a much higher opinion of Swearinger than the Cardinals do. I liked him.
I agree with that. He was a waiver wire pickup, released from San Diego?
He was a hard hitter, that was about it. I don't think the coaches would let him leave for 4.5m per year if they wanted him to stay.

Todd Bowles was a very big fan of Tony Jefferson, but Bowles didn't bite.

I'm assuming our safties will be converted average CBs or waiver wire pickups later after preseason cuts.

Wasn't he cut from the Texans? I thought I read that he was a problem and that was the reason he was cut. It could have been the same reason the cards let him walk. He was great but just wasn't meshing well with the team.....maybe?

Yeah the Texans

Didn't we have a 35 year old safety a few years ago that put up some really good numbers?

It's the 1st day of FA signing... I'll be worried if it's the last day before the season begins & we don't have any better options.

You can't lose top talent to free agency unless your roster wasn't loaded with talented players in the first place
You must remember the old days like I do. The days when we didn't resign our players and the fans complained about letting guys walk but nobody else signed them. And like magic they were out of league never to be heard of again.

Same here. I was never a huge fan of Swearinger but he was a physical force and turned into a nice depth player towards the end of last season. I would have liked to have had him back at around $2M per year for added depth.

However I have no heart break losing a depth player who can easily be replaced. We are talking about a hard hitting safety who is a liability in coverage. Those guys are a dime a dozen.

That's what I said several posts back. He was probably the problem they were talking about last year. If so good riddance.

All of the theories about being a locker room distraction is pure conjecture... For all we know, that award could have gone to someone like our prized first round rookie who fails to remain "professional" with simple things like dressing appropriately for the game. But again, that is just pure conjecture on my end without any proof.

The coaching staff praised DJ for his work ethic. Our two team captains in the secondary (PP and HB) went out of their way to congratulate him on social media. You think if he was such a distraction with our team chemistry, all of the former would have occurred?

This is the one move on Day 1 that does boggles the mind.
