I will say this, this game has done more for the Cardinal getting respect than any game in history, including the wins in the playoffs last year. I have read more positive articles on the Cards this week than ever before.

OT, but I think the Chargers get nothing. They are leading their division and playing well, but nobody says anything about them. If they have, I haven't heard it

I don't care about respect. The silence of the haters and end of the mockery are plenty for me.

ESPN First Take had John Ritchie picking us as the best team in the NFC, and Skip Bayless saying he couldn't vehemently disagree with that, but picked the Saints by this much.

4. The renaissance of Alex Smith. Coming off the first 300-yard passing day of his career, Smith will make Monday night's home game with Arizona interesting for more than just a last 49ers playoff gasp. If he continues to complete 62 percent of his throws with a 2-to-1 TD-to-pick ratio, he'll certainly be in contention for San Fran's quarterback job in 2010.

Peter King's thing to watch in our game........wow.

Peter King in this weeks MMQB:

But he didn't have any choice to say something about ARZ in his "Fine fifteen", and it's just one short and snappy sentence.

That was a dominating win over supposedly the 1st or 2nd best team in the NFC. He could have at least said something in his "ten things I think I think".

But whatever. The ultimate goal is the trophy. Not King's approval.

And it has carried over into today's pre game shows. Twice today, on two different networks, the Cards were referred to as the "defending NFC Champions". Somebody had posted on another thread that the media hadn't been doing that most of the season so it stood out when I heard it.

One was a promo for an upcoming spot on the Viks-Bengals game where they said something like: The Vikings were rolling until they ran into the "defending NFC Champions" in the desert last week. Loved it.
