Do you really think Cards would trade Rosen and turn over the QB job to Murray?

I am more concerned with Murray's small sample size, his bad off-season plan, and his terrible first half vs Alabama than his height.

I wouldn't take him at 1, and I don't think he is close to Russell Wilson.

But I think the Cardinals are desperate to generate some buzz after last season, and Murray would create a buzz.

But what kind of buzz and for how long?

Buzz will last for a few games, then after being hit by 260lb linebackers a few times, He'll be on Ir and the buzz is gone.

I just keep thinking of RG3. I also thought that I heard if they trade Rosen its 14 Million in dead cap money. Anyone know if this is true??

8 million.

Murray runs nothing like RG3. He doesn't take big hits.

We keep Rosen and take Quinnen Williams with the first pick of the draft. We can now push the pocket on defense and nobody is running up our gut with freedom :)

I think the Cards will have a better record than last year regardless of whether the QB is Murray or Rosen. The defense is going to be much better and I do think the offense under KK will improve. I also feel that we will do well in the draft especially with the first pick in every round.
I totally agree with you, defense will be much better, there's 2-3 wins right there, maybe more? I'm thinking 7-9 or 8-8 but hoping for better.

So whats your problem then?
No problem, I just think this Rosen lovefest is sickening. He was awful in college and I don't see it getting better. BTW, OU is my least favorite college team, but Murray is a winner unlike Joshie boy.....

At his size, all it takes is one.

I can't believe you're interpreting this as anywhere near a love-fest for Rosen. If anything, it's absolutely blind faith in Murray from way too many posters, who have handed the guy multiple MVPs and Super Bowls already.

At ANY size, all it takes is one. Wilson gets hit 4 - 6 times a game and how many has he missed?

Everyone acts like Murray is the only 5’10” 200lb player drafted into the NFL. How many RBs, WRs, and CBs hit or get hit at that size??? Much ado about nothing IMHO unless he’s genetically predisposed to repeat injuries, which we haven’t seen.

The issues we should be more concerned with are... Can he read defenses? Does he show poise under pressure? Can he make all of the NFL throws? Does he take unnecessary risks with the football or his body?

Based on the film, Kyler passes with flying colors!

Yes

Why I think its going to happen (note: not a "why its a good thing" list)

1. As far out and unprecedented as it sounds -- the Cards just hired as HC the below .500 record fired coach of Texas Tech. Clearly Keim and Mike B have demonstrated they are ready to embrace and act on out of the box ideas.

2. I think that Mike B / Keim concluded that to win the NFC west with McVay's Rams, Wilson's Seahawks and Shanahan's 49ers -- they will need a dynamic offense more attuned to where the NFL is headed-- rather than a more purely from the pocket traditional offense with Rosen. It would explain KK, and by extension, Murray.

3. I think watching Russel Wilson for the last 5/6 years is influencing Keims and Mike Bs thinking.

4. Daniel Jeremiah made an excellent point: you can get 99% of the draft smokescreen benefit, but also not have Rosen twist in the wind, by affirming he is the QB, but you are open to dealing the pick and have had discussions with teams on that ---- but the team didnt. Rosen was the QB "right now".

5. its possible that the Cards have graded Murray off the charts -- and Keim is simply following best player. Its not like Murray isnt highly rated -- PFF has him #1. Most others have him the #1 or #2 QB. He did put up crazy numbers and win the Heisman.

Years ago -- the Cards had Jake Plummer as a rookie, who did some nice things. They won their last game of the season on a last sec FG that year, and as a result, fell to drafting #2. That was the Peyton Manning draft. Imagine that FG was missed and they were at #1. Do you pass on Manning because you already had Plummer? (I get, not totally comparable, and hindsight makes the answer easy).

I've always wondered how that would've turned out. Interesting scenario for sure.

That year I thought Indianapolis was #1 (Manning) San Diego #2 (Ryan Leaf) wasn't we #3 (Wadsworth) but knowing the Cards they would have taken Leaf passed on Manning and been screwed anyway

Reading all the Murray haters, I can understand why we didn't draft Russell Wilson. At least Rosen can offer the team something, if another team offers some decent picks for him. Can't wait for the Draft.

Confirmed looked it the 1998 that was a major What if to Wadsworth could have been all world if not for a bigtime holdout the the injuries piling up

We had the #2 pick overall but traded down to #3 with San Diego. It was an amazing trade for the Cardinals to not only move down 1 spot and get picks/players but also avoided Ryan Leaf!

Crazy how we missed out on both Peyton and Eli Manning by 1 game.

Murray could have defeated the German army in the morning and served a 4 course meal to Allied troops in the evening.

True, true - I tell you!

We didn't draft Wilson because we didn't have a 2nd round pick and he was off the board when we picked in the third.

I am fully convinced we would have screwed Russell Wilson up anyway.

Wilson was drafted in 2012 when we had Whis and in 2013 we got BA (and Carson Palmer for nothing). Would BA have liked Wilson and would he have been able to thrive in that offense?

RBs, WRs, and CBs don't get the ball in their hand every single down. You lose one of those guys (and let's be real here, very few 5'10 200 lbs players are stars on your team as is), and life goes on. You miss a few opportunities or whatever, but it's not the same as sitting there with Brett Hundley for the rest of the season.

Like it or not man, thin tiny guys are at higher risk of injury in a heavy contact sport.

Chopper, I hope they don't waste their first pick just to create buzz.

Is there any reputable analyst/scout that has Murray ranked as #1 overall prospect?
