I'd like to see them go a little further than this. I think the young guys should get regular minutes in the first half and as long as it doesn't clearly sabotage our efforts to win the game, they should get minutes in the second half too. Maybe not every young player, every game but each of those 3 should see some regular minutes. I'd even play them occasionally during the stretch run of close games as that is also a part of their learning process. Jeff still has to coach to win, he owes that to the veterans on the roster, but as a priority it shouldn't stand much higher than the need to prepare the young players for next season and beyond.

Steve

You're right - and it's another reason to doubt Hornacek (and RMcD?); surely yu play these guys for development reasons. Surely.

Damn Pels won again. Their winning all these games even without Davis, it's very impressive.

OKC lost. If we can beat SA tomorrow we will be tied with New Orleans and be 1/2 game behind OKC.

It wouldn't be a shock if the Heat miss the playoffs entirely. If not for that Boston is likely to start pumping the breaks to avoid leaving the lotto I would flat out expect Miami to fall out.

Last night was a great win against a team that has been playing well but still, they were minus their starting center PLUS the reigning league MVP. It's a nice victory but I still think it's time to play for the future. That also entails getting Bledsoe and Knight a lot of time together but it also means we need to see Goodwin, Warren and Bullock every game.

Careful what you wish for.

I don't say that because I'm convinced they're the answer but because we need to find out what we have in them. I am convinced that Warren will be a good player, maybe even a great player. But I have concerns about Goodwin's viability in the league. His athleticism and length are intriguing though and him tearing up the D League doesn't really tell us much. Bullock is mostly a question mark for me but again, we need to know if we have a solid 3 and D guy or if he's just another guy on the roster. Warren is the only one I'd be playing if we were really a playoff contender but as it is, I think we gain the most by answering some questions about our youth.

Pelicans have now won 5 straight (all 5 without Holliday, Anderson & Davis) and are just .5 game behind OKC. They also have a fairly easy schedule coming up

Nuggets
Mavs
Pistons
Celtics
Grizz

Back to 2 games behind OKC
New Orleans is 1.5

I voted yes in the poll. We are not going to make it.

13 or 14 pick. Probably 13. Really no other options.

Of course, there is winning the lottery. . .

The remainder of the Suns schedule is BRUTAL. There is no possible way they make the playoffs unless OKC and NO both lose 10 in a row. Its also very possible that they fall behind Utah.

Can't see this team making the playoffs with no real chemistry right now. I actually see them losing quite a few games down the stretch here. Too bad.

I'd say Utah is very likely to overtake us - since trading away Kanter (which is to say, since starting Gobert at C) they have won 10 of 12, including wins over Portland, San Antonio, Memphis and Houston. They have a much easier schedule remaining than we do so making up 4 games on us is very doable.

We have 1 game against the EC - Atlanta at Atlanta - and 2 games against WC teams below us in the standings, Sac and Utah. We'll do well to go 4-10 the rest of the way and Utah figures to go about 9 - 7. It may well come down to our game against them - here Apr 4.

I've been saying something like this for quite awhile and I'm okay with closing out the season with mostly losses. But I'd be more okay if we just dropped the pretense that we're in a playoff race and started playing Warren, Goodwin and Bullock 25 minutes plus. We are playing them, just not enough. Hopefully, the reason we aren't doing so is due to an effort to raise the trade profiles of some of our veterans. Otherwise I'm going to have to guess that stupidity is the order of the day.

The writing for this season has been on the wall since long before the Dragic trade. In fact, I'll bet it had a lot to do with Goran's agent pushing Dragic out of town. It's hard to maximize your earnings potential when your team is on a bullet train to irrelevancy.

They don't have the capacity to do anything once they make the playoffs. They have pg problems.

If we were as at least as good as we were last season and if Westbrook wasn't a ******** triple double machine, I feel like this may have been the year that we made playoffs. Just too many losses vs bad teams and too many close (buzzer beater) losses as well obviously.

Westbrook isn't letting it happen. We are almost right there with the Pelicans.

This four-game homestand, starting tonight, is the stretch that will decide their chances. It starts with a difficult back-to-back finish against Dallas, continues with Sacramento and Portland over the next five days. If they fare well in those games, they will have the game of the season in a week against the Thunder. Maybe a run can recapture that "always sold out and rocking" atmosphere that Steve Nash mentioned in his retirement letter Saturday.
