Remember "Smart, Tough, Disciplined"? Darnell, if you can't get 2 out of 3 in the next two years I hope we keep The Coach and let you go. Seriously, to imply the Cardinals aren't "payin' it" is ignorant. Ask KW, AW, and Fitz. Of course, those three score 3 out of 3 IMO. Normally, I refrain from criticizing anyone associated with my team, including the fans, but "make it rain?", seriously? Grow up. Sure, go to a strip club with lots of money and see how much faked love you can buy. I feel sorry for DD.

I wouldn't feel sorry for him, Dan. If anything, be ashamed of his actions. He has made it clear that he feels that he is bigger than the fans, the organization and the game itself. I wish top-tier players like Dockett can follow examples of players like you mentioned and just be patient. They don't use devilish tactics, like throwing the organization under the bus, to get paid. Hell, Wilson didn't skip one OTA, refrained from talking about the contract, and became one of the highest paid safeties in the league.

Of course he does have the most obnoxious agent in the league to encourage this type of behavior, but that was his decision.

Where is the $$$ supposed to come from?

Luxury Suites, naming rights and the extra shared gate revenue from having 65,000 at home games instead of 25,000?

Maybe signing more cap friendly contracts?

Not paying $17 million in salary for two players?

Not paying twice what you need to for 3rd string players?

Just some ideas.

Good points. That's how we signed DD to his current contract.

Exactly. Now we need to use smart money management to sign more players like Dockett.

Unless of course people would like to return to the days of "nice guys" like Bernard Wilson and Fred Wakefield.

I didn't realize all solid players were arseholes...

Wilson
Fitz
Warner
Breatson
DRC
Dansby
Hightower

I wouldn't really call them "Bernard Wilson and Wakefield" types...

Follow the discussion:

1. Where are they supposed to get the money (to sign guys like S.Rogers)
2. Here are some ways to get the money
3. Thats what the Cards have been doing
4. Exactly and they need to keep doing it or we go back to the days of Wakefield and Wilson.

Where do you get that anyone said only bad actors are solid football players?

Since I don't think Dockett is an "********" like you apparently do you can't infer that from any of my posts!

DuckJake, you seem to be agreeing with Dockett, right? While I strongly disagree with his priorites, I can separate that opinion from my opinion of him as a player. I also disagree with his statements about his team, however. His perception of "entitlement" is not healthy. His performance on the field has been undisciplined, his public comments indicate this trait extends off the field as well. He is under contract for three more seasons and will make $4.2 mil this year. If he thinks he should be rewarded more without being more disciplined both on and off the field I believe he is wrong.

Oh, and if he has enough money left over from all his expenses to throw at strippers, what does he need a new contract for?
