I wonder if there are any good running backs released before the regular season if the Cardinals take a serious look at signing one?
BuckeyeCardinal said:I guess it depends on how pre-season goes.
If all four of our current RB's (Smith-Scobey-Croom-Damien) suck then it's a no-brainer.
I predict 2 or 3 of that group of 4 will play so well that we won't even need to worry about it.
Everytime they have the scrimmage in that dome I say a prayer, I HATE ASTROTURF, when are they going to wakeup and outlaw that stuff? Seems to me that they had a scrimmage with San Diego a few years ago on one of the fields up there. God bless you Marcel, heal fast.football24/7 said:Is there anyone available now that is better than the 4 RB's currently on the roster. Smith will get the chance first, and be spelled by Anderson and Scobey. I have always liked Scobey. He has the size and the break away speed. I think if the OL improves just 50% over last year, we should be ok with the RB by committee approach. Unless these guys falter on their on accord, we wont pick anyone up IMO, barring another injury of course. Next year you can bank on a RB being drafted. I hope Marcel has speedy recovery. I say the hell with the scrimmage from now on, if you want to see the cards in training camp, its better to be outside in the pines of Flagstaff.
Bobcat said:Sorry but if you were at the scrimmage a star may have been born last night. His name is "LARRY CROOM." That is right Larry Croom. He is fast smart and quick. Remember he was coached in college by one of the best coaches to ever produce running backs ever in college. This coach produced: Sam the bame Cunningham, O.J. Simpson, Marcus Allen, Bell, and White just to name a few.
Croom looks like the steal of the year!!!

Hell if the Broncos can make guys appear out of nowhere to run for a thousand yards ( O LINE NOT WITH STANDING ), then why cant we. I am not going to get to excited, until he plays a few games against first unit defenses.

Come back to reality, Croom sucks. Unless he is a special teams guru he will be lucky to make the team.
One good scrimmage against a third string D does not a star make!
He is nowhere close to the same caliber RB as Anderson or Scobey!
You must have to play at a football powerhouse like UMass to make it in the NFL, I guess.jmcclain19 said:Croom couldn't even cut it at UA.
That's why he had to go to UNLV, to play subpar competition.
What makes you think he's suddenly NFL ready?
There is a reason this kid was a non drafted rookie. Skills that pay the bills. Or don't, in this case.

There is no friggin way he is better then Josh Scobey.vince56 said:Completely disagree. While he's no Barry Sanders, he's at least as good as Scobey and Anderson. Maybe better. We've had quite a few UDFAs do well for us over the years. Pittman and Shipp come to mind. McKinnon, Lassiter, Brent Alexander, Wakefield. Some UDFAs make the team, and I definitely think Croom will make the team. Possibly as the #2 behind Emmitt.

Bobcat said:Yes he could be...!!! He did something most rookie backs don't do, he waited for his b;ockers on certain plays and made the best of his blocking. He looked like he has learned a lot from Emmitt already.
And for Shane H your are so wrong about your accessment of Croom it hurts. Where did you ever learn to evaluate RB's??? I hope that it is not from our local sports writers; cuase it sounds like it does.
I have seen a watched great to poor running backs for over 50 years now and this kid Croom has great potential. Now it is up to him to get better and strieves for greatness.

I have watched Croom many more times than you that I assure you being that I saw him all the time here at UNLV. The guy is going to be bagging groceries unless he is a special teams demon.
Being undrafted has nothing to do with it. Its the fact that he just sucks!

Croom was good last night. I don't think he got hit for a loss all night.
I'm betting Anderson beats out Scobey.
