Here is a little test for you long-time fans.

Think about Jake, the one QB we have ever seen win a play-off game in AZ, then think about Matt. Adjust time until they are both starting their second year...

How good does Matt look now?

To me, it is amazing what Matt brings; NEVER will his name by linked with the description "Bone Head".

I've pretty much come to one basic conclusion.

Watching Whiz coach it's greatly heartening to see him involved and preaching to Warner about a play where Warner completed the pass but Whiz was following him around telling him that the other side was there and that he has to look for it.

This one play made me feel tons better about everything because Whiz actually gets it..!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a guy in charge of the offense who is actually exploiting what will be there, Matt is about the smartest QB we've ever had, he'll catch on to this kind of thinking real fast and with our players that's all you need.

The line won't be awesome this year but it doesn't have to be, with short passes mixed with runs and mixed with trick plays the other side will NOT get the infernal running slobering panting start at the QB, and if they do that I have confidence Whiz has got a thing or two up his sleeve to make them pay for that crap.

Competence folks is infectious.

Comparing the two is apples and oranges, which is basically your point. Jake was lots of fun to watch because of his ability to make incredible plays out of seemingly nothing at times, but he made too many mistakes.

Matt is more of a pure QB, and while he won't have too many "holy crap" Plummer-type plays, he'll be a better QB and will cause me much less stress. :)

If this oline can keep Leinart healthy through this year, he could very well turn into the best QB we've had since Lomax. Leinart is smart and not prone to making stupid mistakes. He's just got to stop getting shoulder dings. They could kill his career fast.

Hopefully the iron glove doesn't hit Matt in the shoulder.

My fear also. The experimenting and building of the offensive line could cause Matt to take more hits than he can stand. Then bring in the sitting duck Warner and we are in trouble.

Protecting Leinart has to be priority #1.
