Does this site "only" support the Cardinals, or what?

I don't mean to cause trouble with this topic, but something has been bothering the heck out of me. Everyday for nearly a month it seems I see the same damn headline for a story on the front page. And every damn time I keep assuming it's a headline for the Suns, even when I know it’s not. No matter how many times I see it, I still have to double check thinking it can’t possibly be an article for any team but the Suns.

You've all seen it. It says "History in the making." I've seen it a hundred times, and every time I think, "what other team could they possibly be referring too?"

It has to be the Suns, right? Nash going for his second MVP? Marion leading the league in double doubles? Suns are the highest scoring team in the NBA? Suns leading the league in 3 pointers? Suns on their way to a championship? Etc, etc…

It has to be the Suns, right? Because what other Arizona team has a history of winning and more importantly is winning right now?

Is it the Coyotes hockey team? I don't really follow hockey but I know they didn't come close to making the playoffs.

Is it the Diamondbacks? I'm pretty sure they're not making a run to a championship any time soon.

Well that only leaves one other team. When the Suns are breaking records and have the 4th best record in the entire NBA, led by the league MVP, surely they can't be referring to a perennial loser like the Cardinals with a headline like, "History in the Making," can they?

How silly would that be? I mean the Cardinals have been to the playoffs one time in the 18 years they've been in Arizona and the Suns have only missed the playoffs twice during the past 18 years? Right? The Suns were in the WCF last year and the Cardinals won the 10th pick in the draft lottery (so to speak)?

So the article must be about the Suns, right? WRONG!!!

I know Cardinal fans won't believe me if I say that this post isn't meant to be inflammatory. I just feel that headline (which I have to endure week after week, as I keep hoping it's an article praising the Suns "real" accomplishments, VS. Cardinal fans highly imaginative dreams - and yes, I know the article is mainly about the draft) is a slap in the face to a perennial winner like the Suns.

All the Suns do is WIN, WIN and WIN and we can't get a stinking article praising their winning ways???? Instead we get 50 stories in a row about how this Cardinals season is going to be different from the rest, while the Suns continue to "actually make history?"

I'm tired and it's 1:30am in the morning and I'm just sick of seeing that bogus headline for a losing team, while the Suns are shredding the NBA...

Maybe I'm totally alone here on this and I'm being irrational. I understand Cardinals fans have had it rough and just finally want a winner. And that's great. I hope this is the year.

However, as a proud Suns fan who is supporting a team that is currently playing and winning games RIGHT NOW, that headline has been rubbing me the wrong way. Because the Suns are playing great ball and this (legitimately) could be their year. The Cardinals shouldn't be associated with any history in the making statement just yet, anyhow. Come on, they aren't even playing right now.

Can the Suns get just a little bit of respect here?

Sorry for venting. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I’m sure I will regret this in the morning when I return.

I don't think it's the "site" supporting the Cards...it's the people that post on this site. If anyone would write an article on the Suns, it would be posted on the front page, I'm sure.

I wrote articles a long time ago. George tried writing a few a while back. It gets old real fast when you are the only one writing them. The Cardinals fans have multiple guys writing stories. Thus there's always something new posted on the front page on the Cardinals. Look at the total posts for their forum versus ours. Yes, it's pretty much a Cardinals site. :)

There's a front page for this site? I honestly haven't viewed it in months, as it's updated maybe once a month - and it's Cardinals news only.

Two things: I can't get Suns writers and there is a programming glitch on the front page right now preventing me from changing the "breaking news."

Se7en - you write it, I'll publish it.

Skkorp,

I would recommend publishing the post just written by se7en to the front page. I think that would be a great start.

Gaddabout. Get to work. :D

Sorry. Realized that I sounded a bit harsh. :)

I think that's the attitude that frustrates me. That there are more diehard fans for a losing team than a winning team is kind of disheartening. I certainly admire Cardinals fans for hanging in there for so long. But still, you'd think the Suns would have even more fans since they have been a winning team for so long and a team that is "homegrown."

Most of the Suns fans post elsewhere.

I would point out that the NFL is a far more popular league. And the Cardinals have a transient history, so they have fans in areas that they used to reside. And since those fans don't have a local connection to other fans anymore, the internet and this site in particular give those fans a place to talk about their team.

Plus Arizona only pulls for championship teams....when the team is about to win it....(Fans in AZ are frontrunners)

Honestly, we just need writers guys...

IF ANY ONE OF YOU wanted to write recaps, post breaking news, etc., it would be up there in a HEARTBEAT.

But we have George and that's it.

One of you guys step up to the challenge and make the frontpage what you want to see it like.

I wish I had time to do it myself, but work, going back to school and life just prevents me.

Mike

Thats not an attitude its a fact. Did you notice that the Cards board has almost 300,000 more posts than the Suns? Thats no accident. Even if you guys get more writers and more articles on the front page it wont make a difference. This has and always will be a Cardinals site for the most part. People are just more passionate about football overall even if it has been bad football.

Skorp, why didn't you say so? :p

I'll gladly write about the Suns if you need people to.

also, and someone correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't this site originally created as an alternative cardinal site to (man, i can't even remember the name of the old one that NEM drove everyone away from)?

also, there used to be a lot more suns-related traffic here, but we seemingly lost a bunch of posters (have no idea where they went, and again, can't remember who we lost . . . my god i'm going brain dead . . . no more 4 birthday, 2 pub crawls weekends for this guy . . . )

Ouchie, "also, there used to be a lot more suns-related traffic here, but we seemingly lost a bunch of posters (have no idea where they went, and again, can't remember who we lost . . ."

It seems to me that the post traffic was down in here and, like you, I couldn't recall any disappearances. I scrolled thru all sixty-odd pages of site members looking for people who's names seemed familiar and had a high post count but hadn't been active recently. I didn't find any! I did discover that about three quarters of the posters' names with high post counts were not familiar to me - this the only board I visit. I presume most are football fans though a few names seemed to indicate baseball or hockey.

Its a testament to the loyalty of the Cards fans that they have maintained such interest after so many years with so little success on the field. I was enough of a football fan back in the days the Cardinals moved here to know that Bidwill was very bad news as an owner - and I never felt any enthusiasm for the team as a result of that.

I followed Skkorp over here from the old Cards Corner on AOL. (Those were the days!)
