Does this site "only" support the Cardinals, or what?

Who is this Cardinals Team everyone is referring to? St. Louis Cardinals play baseball in the MLB, not football in the NFL...

I am not aware of any Cardinals playing competitive football in the NFL. But then again, I only watch and follow compelling franchises (see Dallas Cowboys) who compete.

It has been like this from Day 1. I had brought up this same issue some time ago (couple years ago at least), but it all comes down to the fact that the only reason this appears to be a "Cardinal" site first is because 1) it has the largest number of posters, and 2) they're the only ones that write for the site.

I will say, however, that in all the years I've been at this site, I've posted on the Cardinal board something like 4 times only. I might be a bandwagon fan, but I've always followed the Cards, whether I like them or not--however, I do like them this year and am actually really interested to watch them. I have a lot of football knowledge (at least with the non-offensive line players), but I always felt I'd be butting in if I ever started posting on the Cards board.

The numbers don't lie. The NFL is more popular than the NBA nationwide, and the difference is more pronounced in "red" states. So really, this board is just another data point reinforcing that general trend.

I'd probably follow the Cardinals if I still lived in the Phoenix area, but maybe not. Living in Los Angeles, it's a bit easier to put the NFL on the back burner, and I've never been that much of a fan.

As far as baseball goes, please don't get me started on "my" team, the Dodgers. Yecch. To think that they were a class organization for so long before.

I guess this only matters if you are a fan of one team but not the other....

Personally I am big time Kool-aid drinker of both teams:thumbup:

BUt the NFL by and large is more popular and with playing once a week, there is alot more analysis done becasue each game is a big event. The NFL also has more free agents (just a numbers game) and the NFL has done a incredible job of pumping up its own draft to the point that its now an event unto itself.

Just control what you can...If you want more suns articles than write em' up. I'll sure as hell read em.....

To be honest my biggest gripe is the apathy of the Diamondback fans. No one writes an articles or even posts stories or blurbs that are national. I guess I could take it upon myself or go to a dbacks MB, but I only have so much time to go around.

So Dback fans....Please.....if we cant generate the interst and numbers that the Cards can on this site, we can certainly at least emulate the passion that the Suns fans here do....

The Knicks used to be good and they’ve always spent money and the Hawks have had a few good seasons in the past. I would compare the Cardinals to the Clippers before this year. Never made the playoffs and never spent money to attract or retain quality free agents. Many people say the Cardinals are one of the worst run franchises in all of sports.

I am just curious. I don't watch football but I keep hearing about how bad the team is on this board. Has Cardinals made to the playoffs?

dont feel that way, i for one would not feel that you are butting in. feel free to jump on the bandwagon and begin posting, cause after they make the playoffs next year, there will hardly be any room.

Heh. But unlike the Cardinals, the Suns have been to the Finals twice and to the "final four" several more times. By contrast, the Cardinals have won exactly one playoff game in 50 years. Failing to get the ultimate prize is disappointing, but it's not fair to equate the Suns' and Cardinals' overall success by that measure alone.

I consider myself a rare breed.... I'm a transplant from the Detroit suburbs and relocated out here back in '02 as probably the most rabid/loyal follower of all of Detroits major four professional teams.... However.. gradually overtime I've switched all my allegiances to all of the Phoenix/AZ teams and I immediately stopped rooting/following the Detroit teams... I cared less when the Pistons won the '04 finals that I didnt even watch one single moment of that series (well... I did involuntarily when I was at a bar w/some friends)......

What I cannot fathom is that it seems that there's always ill-will towards those who frequent the Cardinals forum whenever they venture onto here.... Or.. why it seems that some dont venture outside of this forum to discover what the other forums have to offer... I moderate the 3 other sports forums on here and always welcome those who root for the AZ rivals... I dont mind whatsoever.. unless.. of course they're trolling..... but the nature of trolling when all that person does is try to stir up and prevoke constant bickering and such......

I mean.. why cant those who are fans of both the Cardinals and Suns coexist without always seemingly being segregated somehow? It just doesnt make sense to me at all.....

i think suns fans care for cards fans but we are concerned for them the same way we would be if our family member was in an abusive relationship. we have seen them get hurt time and time again but they always go back. its really disturbing. i root for the cards but never expect much that way i never get hurt.

That is just incredible. ONE playoff victory in 50 years.

"kinda"??

That must explain why it's 3 pages long.

If thread lengths indicate quality - then the threads in P&R are masterpieces of crap. :)

I read both suns and cardinals forums and appreciate the comments and insights both camps gives.

But fer some folks to turn this into a suns fan vs. cards fan thing is stupid...imo.

I think ASFN is a great place for all types of sports lovers to come and talk about their team. I try not to look at it in terms of individual sport (Cardinals vs Suns), but more because of the amazing people who come here because we all collectively share an interest in some Arizona sport.

I am holding out for more interest in the Mercury forum though. :D

(please refrain from making a WNBA joke, it's already been heard before).

am i the only regular crossover between the cards and suns? wow.

nah... I'll wander over every now and then. I figure there's enough info over there to read w/o me jumping in.

I'm actually numb and de-sensitized to anything the Cards do bad. It's like being lashed with a whip on your back over and over and over. After awhile, the pain doesn't exist.
