Him arriving at the Miami Airport (seriously).

This picture slays me. Miami fans have to be so bummed. Theyve got helicopters covering Manning's drive to his own condo a week ago. Now, their newest target is greeted by some dude with an Iphone.

A. Smith signing with Miami would be FANTASTIC

add Manning signing with Denver or Tenn and the dream is alive

One league source told CSN Bay Area that Alex Smith has no one to blame but himself for the precarious situation in which he he now finds himself as an unrestricted free agent.

Smith is said to be "upset" with both the 49ers' organization and his agents, despite the fact that he declined to sign a more-than-reasonable $24 million contract offer last week. "It was in Smith's best interest to sign that deal a week, 10 days ago," the source said. The source also confirmed that Smith is unlikely to get that kind of offer from the Dolphins or Seahawks.

So the PR campaign starts. Good! Piss off Smith even further. My question is how much was guaranteed and did Condon recommend he sign?

(Or did Condon pass on this offer and ask for a 5 year deal, as reported. Thereby, conciously (or not) leave the door open for his number one client, PM)

Okay, so the dolphins have offered Smith 8 Mil. per year. So even if Manning doesn't go to the 49ers, the price for Smith just went up. I don't think the 9er's were offering that much.

SF offered 3 years $24M (8 per)

Dolphins have to get the deal done....so what if it's another $3 mill....sign him and have a proven qb.

Somehow doubt it happens, although it would be sweet. Smith will wait on the Manning decision that some are saying will be today or tomorrow. If PM goes to Tenn or Denver, Smith and SF will kiss and make up with a "soothe your ego" contract.

The word in South Florida media and rumor mill is that Smith is keeping the door open in case Manning signs with 9ers, otherwise he is back in San Fran. I really would not expect Harbaugh to turn the job over to Kaepernick. They were 2 muffed punts from the Super Bowl with Smith.

Anyone think Tom Condon knew Peyton would not sign with 49ers and is using this as a ploy to get a good deal for Smith?

tough one, would I rather see smith or kaepernick QBing SF? I dont know. I feel like alex is very safe and not incredible which is good for us, kaepernick could be horrible but what if hes better than smith? hmmmmmmmm

I'd rather see an overpayed, long-term contracted Alex Smith, personally. And now that is a distinct possibility.

Had the Cardinals not paid Kolb the $7M---do you think they would be hosting Smith? The trumper getting trumped???

I sure would have preferred Smith to Kolb but life is not always fair for the Cards. Kolb another one of our great all-time signings. It will rank up there with Leinart. Actually Leinart made sense at the time but Kolb made no sense before or after.

I Can totally see Miami signing Tebow for the spectacle. Ross loves star power and Timmy would sell tickets, especially in Florida. He is lucky he didn't sign Condon as an agent because the Alex Smith conflict is deep.

Miami is a beautiful city. I hope we all contact Alex to boost the positive aspects of this Paradise on earth. :)

I was thinking the same thing. Miami would be a good fit.

You are forgetting that we had no QB and no other FA options.

It's a win-win situation for us. Either Miami drives up the price and the years of the contract or San Francisco has no quarterback at all. Actually that might be better than being stuck with Alex Smith but either way, we win.
