That only underscores their arrogance. To think they are entitled to one of the top 2 or 3 assets in the league that should not be available to any team says it all.

Not actually again. The story reads that the Mavs approached the Lakers, not the other way around. No league conspiracy. If the Mavs target was AD, what’s the purpose of opening it up to others teams? Mavs definitely got better short term.

The weirdest part to me is that Cuban signed off on this. I wonder whether he's getting out. Seeing some of his fellow billionaires grow into political powers might have him thinking he needs to get into the game quickly.

It's not as unusual as one might think when Mark Cuban let Steve Nash walk out the door when he wouldn't match the Suns offer.

As previously noted, he sold off all or part of the team.

Kellen Olson makes a great point - Even if you believe Dallas didn't care about draft picks and wanted a great defensive big - HELLO Giannis is also likely very available in a swap for Luka.
Gianni’s or Jokic will be a Laker within a couple years. They’ll have cap space in 2027 when those guys become FA’s. I think the Lakers are smartly shooting for a Euro superteam but for the next couple years they won’t be contenders.

Because nobody in their right mind would make AD their prime target.

That is just total BULLCRAP.

He has what - at best 2 good years left? Who is the youngsters on Dallas that they are going to build around - Derek Lively?????

Yeah I think it gives them a real chance to win this year but still, it looks to be a very Lakers friendly deal.
.
Yeah ppl are kinda overlooking AD/Lively (if healthy) is the best frontcourt in the league and could give OKC/Boston problems. Dallas still has assets to make other moves. Completely sold away any future beyond 2027 though.

ad is 31 man - granted this trade was biznonkers - craziest trade ever - but these hyperbolic knocks on ad to make the trade appear even more lopsided are laughable - mavs actually got exactly who they wanted by ALL reports

Love how many people in here think Luca is a generational super star, you’re either young and haven't seen them. Or you standards are lower then mine. Doncic is a bottom feeder of past stars
Yeah it’s none of the above. Generational simply means he is a talent that doesn’t come along that often. You can’t compare him to past stars because we have not seen his entire career yet. That’s a ridiculous standard. Now if you want to compare him at the end of his career and say he is not up to snuff? OK.

Maybe it’s a make up call for the league? The Lakers definitely got hosed when Stern cited “basketball reasons” and veto’d the Chris Paul trade because it did t fit his anti Laker bias.
The Lakers will take a step down and the Mavs a step up. Don’t understand the outrage.

All reports that are trying to make weak minded people not see how rigged the NBA is so they keep supporting their local teams that are obviously at an enormous disadvantage to the big market teams.

How in the world do you really think this makes the Mav's better?

I seriously cannot comprehend this line of thinking.

AD has NEVER scared me as an opponent. Luka has single handedly killed the Suns 25 times minimum.

Right and at least that way you're sending Luka to the other conference. With the Lakers he can actually be a roadblock in the playoffs.

Uh OK. I don’t think the NBA was involved in the trade. However, I do think considering the NBA nixed the Chris Paul trade they should be involved in this. Sounds like calls are mounting.

From a Suns perspective the Mavs are a worse matchup for us now than they were before. It’s all about matchups and AD/Lively could give every teams problems in a series. Dallas has the ability to make more moves. Again this is completely disregarding their long term future.

UMM how could it possibly get worse from a Suns perspective.

THEY STOMPED US with Luka.

When is the last time big men dominated any game. HELLO it's a 3 point shooting league. No twin towers are winning you anything - it's not the 90's.

Also, Washington and Gafford gives the Mavericks a strong front court.

we're weak minded huh? cuz we're not running around with tinfoil on our heads and checking our ticket stubs under blacklights for hidden ancient messages from the illuminati - who we both know controls the nba - matter fact you may be right - the earth might be flat - it might've been whitney houston that was the bad influence on bobby brown

or maybe we don't know everything - maybe Luka told the club he wanted to be a laker like other nba greats - maybe luka was being toxic about the upcoming contract - no matter what this started in dallass - so save the enquirer gotcha headlines - teams are allowed to trade players - there's logic and both sides with information yet to be available

but go on with your strong minded bad self - im gonna stay on the planet called reality

Dallas is shooting 37% from 3 which is 10th. They’re 7th in offensive rating with Luka missing half the season. An elite two way big man would do wonders for them.
