Most teams would have drafted Ayton. I mean I watched a bunch of the national analysis on that draft and most had Ayton going #1. I do remember though many saying Luka was already "NBA ready".
I think most would have taken Luka, but Phoenix felt they had to take a chance on finally getting a legit center. Really depends on who else is on your roster at the time. Luka went third after all, so the next team passed on him, too.

I don't think so. Unless I am remembering the mock drafts at the time wrong, Ayton was #1 on most boards and I remember hearing most teams had Ayton #1 on their boards as well but I could be remembering wrong.

Update: I just looked at multiple 2018 mocks draft boards and overwhelmingly most had Ayton #1 (ESPN, Ringer, BR, NBA site, Athletic, BI, CBS sports...).

.
At least Ayton gave us some production. Marvin Bagley is one of the worst busts ever. I think McD wanted to pair Booker, Ayton and SGA but I remember some weirdness regarding the Bridges pick.

Wait tell Booker wants a new Max. This board of GM,s is going to explode
I have said repeatedly the Suns should move on and get what they can for Booker if by the end of this contract if we don't have a title. Give Booker a chance to title chase and load up on assets for the next try. It likely won't happen but IMO it's the best move unless you can reload and get another Superstar to play next to him...somehow.

There was real concern if Luka's game would carry over to the NBA. He was not the most athletic player in the world.

The NBA game and FIBA game are different.

Unless Booker is injured or such, I expect the Suns will pay him when the time comes. He has stayed committed to the Suns.
amazing. But at least you admit the sentiment that too many others feel. A sentimental commitment to keeping and paying Booker as a loyalty reward, regardless of his production or true value. It's putting fandom of Booker before fandom of the Suns team.

in my Book (and probably the majority here, though they're mostly quiet about it) the "such" part in your, "unless Booker is injured or such" line has already happened.

I credit Proximo for being the only one who got the Luka fiasco right by calling it a conspiracy. A conspiracy is when multiple people conspire to deceive. Technically, if i was right about Luka forcing his way out and it being covered up, it's a conspiracy. But i had to give Proximo's NBA involved theory more thought and it's also highly possible.

the twist is...it's not a future payback the NBA is looking for -- this is the completion of the payback

yes, my friends. look at the evidence.

1. two years ago the NBA completed it's investigation into the Cuban Malfeasance Crisis and laid down a slap on the wrist instead of the force-out Sarver got. Cuban is a more substantial NBA celebrity in the public eye.
2. odd how a year later, the Dallas fanatic who's shouting at every home game has suddenly decided to sell his majority share in the organization?
3. another year passes and Dallas, oddly, takes a wildly unbalanced deal to send the new face of the NBA to the hottest market in the NBA

Cuban is a negotiator. He likely, in a personal conversation with the commissioner, negotiated an arrangement everyone could benefit from.

it will keep happening until we stop believing everything the fat-cats tell us, bending over backwards to rationalize their spin.

I’m hearing no one in Dallas cares about the negative aspects of luka. People are pissed and the media is roasting Nico Harrison.
Yep, was listening to it today. Fans and what the org are saying couldn't be more opposite. Fans are beyond pissed. Sound like the organization was worried about his conditioning, sometimes toxic behavior and wanting to avoid paying the Supermax. It's just unbelievable that most teams would die for a generational player and the Mavs basically gave him away.

idc about the fat jokes - if he got banished from dallas it's gotta be because of how he's built - and from all reports he's built like a jerk store - kyrie came in - became the most liked and most listened to - kyrie plays more of the team style basketball that can appreciate a center like ad

kyrie ultimately took luka's cookies
