Aaand he leaves that game at the end of the 3rd quarter with a non-contact injury. Typical.

Not that typical. He'd been healthy almost all of this season and last. He's listed as probable for their next game already. It's just a back strain, which can be an issue and they need to be careful but he came out the gate playing fantastic.

I banned him for three days. I’ll see if I get response from poster. Knowing my luck I will.

Not advocating for violence, but Mavs fans holding their GM's feet to the fire. Everywhere JJ goes in the VALLEY, we should be asking "How are you going to fix this mess?"
Harrison has been hiding. I heard that he didn’t go to the press conference to introduce AD.

And last season was the only time he managed more than 62 games since 2018..

Which would mean more if there weren't 2 shortened seasons in that stretch.

I'm not saying he's an iron man or regularly healthy but as a Laker he was under a different microscope than he was as a Pelican or will be as a Maverick. For comparison though, Luka has played in just 54 more games over the last 7 seasons. 368 for AD and 422 for Luka. That's just under a 7 game difference per season.

I think the Lakers clearly won this trade on paper but I'm starting to understand why this trade went down this way. I believe it has to do with what happened to Phil Jackson when it leaked out that he was considering trading their young Euro superstar. The uproar quickly led to his firing but within a year or two we all found out what Phil already knew; Porzingis was frequently injured, had a poor work ethic, was almost uncoachable and worth far more in trade value than in the pursuit of a championship.

I have no idea if anything like that is true about Doncic but Luka is even more worshipped world wide. If they really felt a trade was necessary for whatever reason(s), I'm not sure anyone could have survived the public outcry if it leaked out before it was finalized. And if they'd called more than one team it probably would have leaked out.

Okay and he missed 36 games in one of those shortened seasons...

Aaaaaaand, looks like perpetually injured AD is injured for at least two weeks and could be up to a month… for a non-contact injury.

Are there really people defending this trade as GOOD for Dallas? They got an older, consistently broken down C for one of the top 3 players in the game, who hasn’t even reached his prime and already dragged otherwise okay Mavs teams to the WCF and Finals.

Not that I know of, at least not from a value standpoint. I could see them winning a title this season because of this deal and it still could end up being one of the worst trades ever. With what we actually know about the two players this is just a huge gift to the Lakers. OTOH, if some of the post trade rumors are true about Doncic, maybe it will end up being one of those trades where both teams feel like they lost.

How much better would this trade have been if it was reversed, and Doncic was traded to Dallas from LA for AD, and AD is immediately hurt for a month?

That's my bet. I think there will be a limited period where it looks like the Lakers won the deal. But once Doncic starts hitting a similar perpetual injury wall as Davis (likely mostly due to his "White Zion" proclivity), that perception will largely dissipate.

I think that after all is said and done, we will all look back on this in a few years with dismay thinking that it didn't turn out to be as earthshaking as it seemed at the time.

Mavs owner talking about how true superstars like Shaq had elite work ethics. These guys are either coping at an all time level or just completely delusional.

And building around “character” guys while making Kyrie Irving the go to guy event though he’s been a team cancer multiple times on multiple teams, while also being a virulent antisemite.
