F-ing Joke you guys are. Why don't you start talking 1980's smack now and talk about the good ol' times?
Huh who's talking about the 80's. Might as well talk about the 90's because those years were pretty good two.

So who made up the wild rumor? I want to hear it? Was it not Randy Cross talk to a bunch USC students.

Buddy why don't you learn to actually count to 101, and then I'll give you the time of day.

What about Culpepper? Before you all jump on me, remember what happened when he was throwing to the best WR in football at the time. If Matty fails, he would have a WR corp he hasn't had since MIN. Not as mobile as he once was but still has a cannon.

With the mob
I'm more worried about the Seahawks this year than the 49ers. With Pete Carroll on board and guys like Marshall and Heath Bell visiting them, they could be pretty decent this year.

With all of the Leinart vs Smith/Carr discussion we've been having, I will concede that Matt Hasselbeck is the best QB left in the division, when healthy. At least he's proven something...

Then they are more screwed and desparate than we thought.

HEATH Bell is a pitcher. For the Padres.

:D

(I know what you meant though)

Haha....well, I have baseball on my mind right now. Pumped about the upcoming season. It's the only sport I could play (well)....

My point was that I think Seattle will be better than the 49ers this year. Even with the downgrade from Warner to Leinart, we should still win the division...

Points raised in the thread:
1. Hasselbeck is the best QB when healthy. He's never healthy.
2. What tier is ML in? Doesn't matter. Who cares. On field performance is what counts.
3. St. Louis might or might not go after Hill, but again who cares. IMO, if they draft a QB with their first pick, Bulger would probably be a better backup than Hill. Hill couldn't even beat out Alex Smith.
4. Entire thread, IMO, is much ado about nothing.

Well the worst ML can do is prove he's on the same level of Alex Smith. He may indeed be, I think so, but he still hasn't done it, so I have some hope about our QB situation until it materializes that he sucks.

Color me crazy but Derek Anderson might not be a bad idea. The guy can light it up from time to time, throw the deep ball, and had no one around him except Braylon 'did I put enough crisco on my hands before the game' Edwards. Even then when he was playing, their running game sucked and Cribbs wasn't playing like he did until after Quinn took over.

IMO Derek Anderson with a supporting case > ML or Marc Bulger, or any QB the Niners have had since Aneas Williams was on our team. :)

I could be wrong about DA, but he's a guy worthy of a shot. Shaun Hill? ROFL

I'd be happy with signing Hill. I think he's probably a decent backup.

Wasn't Shawn Hill the QB a couple years ago on Monday night football! The first half gave me a sinking feeling. Then, we came back in the 2nd half and kept SF from scoring at the end! Coin flip for me.

Change my vote to he'd be OK for a backup. Has decent experience. Rather have him than giving up a 3rd rounder for a RFA.

Wow. My browser's all screwed up. I thought I was going to a Cardinals board but it must have re-directed me to a Philly board or something.

Never seen such a bunch of jerk responses over a harmless and meaningless OP.

It's not like the Cardinals would EVER sign an ex-49er, ho-hum QB<cough>Tim Rattay<cough>.

Shaun Hill is pretty much a great backup IMO. NOT starter but as a backup? He's not going to threaten a high-priced starter who hasn't proven himself but he's going to be ready to play every week and the dude's got heart and balls. And regardless of his arm strength, he's shown he can manage and win some games too.

I would have no problem with Shaun Hill as a backup on my team once I win a lottery or five.
