interesting facts. i still think we can pull this together, but i sure miss devin.

devin went down on the 28th of january.

the mavs were tied for second in the west with the suns.(suns were in 1st when they pulled the shaq trade)

they were each 1 game behind n.o.

they were 3 games ahead of the spurs and lakers who were each 4 games behind n.o.

the mavs have now played 18 games without devin harris. they are 8-10 in those 18.

in the 11 prior to devins injury they went 9-2, including routing the pistons and lakers in that stretch.

in the month of basketball before that the mavs beat the following teams:
phx, houston, new orleans, utah, and san antonio.

cool the Suns and Mavs of this part of the decade are becoming the trailblazers and kings of the early part of the decade...just as every freaking person on earth expected.

Barbosa isn't part of the bench anymore? Stack isn't part of the mavs bench anymore? your comparison doesn't convince me that we are better. Nash is better than Kidd at one thing-shooting (maybe slightly better at playmaking these days). Kidd is a better defender and rebounder by a mile. Shaq is not all that much better than Dampier these days either. Yes he is still better, but 36 years takes its toll. Other than that, you called everything a push.

I would beg to differ with you on Howard/Hill. Howard IS better than Grant Hill at this point in their respective careers.

Sorry, until I see a head to head match-up nothing I've seen from the Suns makes me think they are better and I have watched the games.

And Amare and Dirk being a push is a joke. Amare has NEVER carried a team by himself to the extent that Nowitzki has. NEVER.

Amare has so much advantage over dirk its not even funny. Dirk cant even carry a backpack by himself, let alone a team without choking when they need him most.

I guess we'll have to wait until the playoffs. Last year's MVP (Dirk) and Dallas getting beat in the first round of the playoffs does not help your cause.

One shot with the game on the line who are you taking? Amare who's never created his own shot or Dirk? How many times do people have to spew that BS? Dirk has won more than Amare has.

amare choked away a couple of big games for us this year as well (usually at the free throw line).

Amare and Dirk are not comprable players because they are so different. Dirk leads the team and is more of a shooter. Amare, in the system he has been in, hasn't had to lead the team because of nash. Dirk is a passer/shooter while amare is an explosive scorer (shooting and inside scoring), shotblocker, and source of energy. statistically, however, dirk is the better player.

That's true, it is an apples and oranges situation. The only thing the two players have in common is the position they play on the floor.

Amare has improved his shooting, but it's mostly all about him trying to regain a lot of his pre-injury form. What scares me is that Nowitzski is actually getting even better after the Kidd trade. He has stepped things up on the defensive end and is determined to try to honor Cuban's personnel moves with a deep playoff run. I was watching a Mavs game the other night, heard the words "Nowitzski with the block!" and practically did a spittake. :)

He's happier now than he's been since Steve left. He's getting easier shots then he has in a while.

The Mavs offense was the most frustrating thing to watch b4 the trade. It's getting better by the game now. And Dirk has been on fire.

How many game winning shots has Amare made?

How many has he taken for that matter?

And it really isn't a comparison. Dirk makes his entire team bettr by just being on the floor. Amare doesn't (or atleast he hasn't up until this point).

Let's put it this way.

Simple question, would the Suns be better if you replaced Amare with Dirk.

Yes, with Dirk's ability to pass out of doubles and find the open man, and with Barb, Nash, & Bell spotting up. . . the Suns would be right at the top like they were b4 the Shaq trade.

Nice well thought out response

Still no answer to how many potential game winners Amare has taken, b/c he hasn't, he's never carried a team to the Finals. He never will until Nash retires.
