I know most of you didn't like the Robin Lopez pick. so my question for all of you is this. Who would you have taken in that? Please limit your response to 2 players who were remaining on the board at #15. Don't bother with trades. Just tell me who you would have taken instead, and then we can revisit this thread later.

No one else. I'll take Robin, at least he isn't a lazy bum like Diaw.

Btw, if I had to take somebody else it would have probably been Speights, but I can't say that I was incredibly excited about him either.

Green.. That was it...

So again, A 7 footer who plays energetic, scrappy, defensive minded.. and athletic... sounded like what most of us wanted last season and early this season...

think poor man's Chandler, a bigger more athletic Varejao.... a Noah-type lol.. hehe

I hope he's good, he might turn out to be on the poster of every vicious dunk by an opposing team though. Its a crapshoot.

sell the pick, oh its too late. Sure there are two I'd rather have(kuofos, greene) but resigning skinner and signing james jones will help the team more this year, and perhaps for the next as well. Lopez is one more guy that doesnt have to be defended, or maybe they can put a PG on him and double off of him. The lane is going to look like a mosh pit next year. I'd say get jones and skinner.

Donte Green I can see, but what makes Mareese Speights so much better than Robin Lopez? If anything, Speights was even MORE of a project than Lopez.

He's more of a scorer, a better rebounder, on par defensively and has higher upside than Lopez.

I like the Pick. It was either PG or C and at PG I've mentioned Chalmers a bit... Gambo says the Suns will look to sign a PG in Free Agency.

I like the Pick he is young and has potential, which will blossom after banging around with Amare and Shaq and he looks like he is ready to play.

He doesn't have much potential. Varejo type ceiling at best.

That worked out great last time.

PG that are available in free agency suck.

I like the idea of trading for Heimlich.

Apparently the Suns don't agree with you. How dare they! :D

I know! What the hell is the problem with those damned Phoenix Suns executives???? Not agreeing with me?? Thats blasphemy.

Seriously, just one opinion. Other than my just shoot me comments in the thread and the hope that they wouldn't take him, I've not been one to claim I know something the FO doesn't. I'll trust they know what they want to do and that they had reasons why they took Lopez at 15.

**** happens, no point in dwelling over it. He's a Sun now. Like it or not, may as well grow used to it.

actually kerr said he complements amare(plays defense), so I suspect its not about skills on offense. Speichts is supposed to be lazy, and he WOULDNT complement Diaw.

He did apparently look pretty good in the workouts he did for us, and to his credit, he seems to be very coachable and open to doing whatever the coaches ask him to do. No prima donna attitude here. Plus, he has a personality, and for a team where chemistry is just as important as on-court skills, that's a big positive.

Youre probably right we need a guy who boxes out when the coach tells them to. And maybe he will dunk if told to as well. I just think we need to go get some outside shooting in a bad way.

Well, we had 3 major needs, and we addressed one of those--now we need a sweet-shooting wing (SF or SG) and a backup PG.
