Garnett no? I just repeated what someone else said but a tall lean lanky MF that can handle the ball sounds like KG reincarnate.

KG was definitely long and lean, but he also was one of the most intense guys on the court in any given game? Does Isaac have that same intensity and toughness? His bio sounds more like a finesse guy.

fair point especially as his demeanour is what originally turned me off the guy, but strictly talking physical here.

I'm struggling to see what's wrong with Tatum other than his tendency not to pass to the open man which I'm sure (i may be wrong) can be coached out of him once he realises he not the singular star of the show.

Plus:

He's so much longer than Jackson - their wing spans may be only one and a bit inches apart but there's a 7 inch difference in standing reach.

That is enormous.

Jackson's 8'3" standing reach is the same as guys who are 6'2", meaning Kawhi Leonard, and long SF's like him, will absolutely destroy him.

Plus there's character issues which we've proven we can't handle.

I'm officially on record saying I want Tatum over Jackson.

One of the reasons I think Tatum is being overlooked by a lot of fans, and some scouts, is he is coming from Duke. A lot of people hate Duke and hate the players that come from there also. I think there is also a question of how good is he is away from Coach K, but I don't see that being a big sticking point. I think it has more to do with an Anti-Duke sentiment.

It is why I was overlooking him.

His tape is outstanding once I washed my Duke hatred off.

I'm sure the Duke hate has a lot to do with the anti-Tatum sentiment. Let's face it, ESPN and Vitale have shoved Duke down our throats for 3 decades now. But there's also the fact that Mike is a very good coach and tends to make his players look even better than they are, so many of them underwhelm at the next level.

I've said all along on Tatum, I think a well scripted workout will tell us whether Tatum should be our target or not. If he can score consistently against NBA level defenders and hold his own offensively against the same, it's a no-brainer IMO. I'm not afraid of his ISO tendencies or his low assist rate, just concerned over him being able to have his way at this level.

I can't think of one player from Duke who has turned into a star player in the NBA in the past 5-6 years besides Kyrie Irving.

Parker was showing signs before his injury (injuries). And Ingram, it's still far too soon to tell. Looking at Duke's history seems relevant but it really isn't. Each player is different. If he can do the job, great, I don't care where he's from.

And while it's a challenge to do so, it's always best to ignore the hype (Ingram). He clearly wasn't ready for stardom but that doesn't mean he isn't a stellar prospect. Who knows, maybe tomorrow is the day he gets out of bed and decides to stop working on his heroin chic look?
