I don't think I've ever seen a team so ill-prepared to start a season... Hitters all look clueless at the plate. Taking too many strikes and swinging at too many balls... Pitchers seem to have no plan, no pre-game strategy... Just throw and hope for the best. We're making errors at a rate far above last season and our base-running is putrid... Seriously, wtf happened this spring???

Hitting, pitching, fielding, base running! About the only thing our tunnel-vision Manager and his inexperienced Pitching and Hitting coaches have accomplished is getting the ballplayers to the game on time.

If anyone still thinks that our dysfunctional General Manager is the only cause of our dismal record, all they need to do is read your assessment again ... and again ... and again.

As the '50's buffoon Casey Stengel once said to the Mets team he was supposed to be developing, "Can't anybody here play this game?"

It is now 50+ years later. How about asking, "Can't anybody here coach this game?"

Couldn't agree more.

Everytime Aaron Hill comes up in the order I am shocked that he can actually find the batters box because he looks absolutely LOST up there. He's a perfect example of what you're talking about.

I know he got a big hit the other night in one of our many wins, and I love me some Aaron Hill, but he swings like bugs bunny just stole his talent in most of his at bats thus far. He personifies how this club has looked this first month of the season. Some of these guys we KNOW can play better in one way or another. We have seen it in the past, it's just not happening right now.

We should be shopping Trumbo. I know there is no chance of getting value on the scale of what we gave for him, but it was a massive screw-up that is not going to get better. He cannot field his position, he cannot hit in the middle of the order because of his awful OBP. Some team out there undoubtedly is not satisfied with the power potential they have at first base and that is a position that Trumbo is not a complete travesty at. With his awful play and contract status our leverage will only get worse as more time passes.

Keep Goldy and trade the rest of the team for young prospects but first fire Keven Tower. This team is going to be bad for a long time.

I think we can get away with waiting a little bit to closer to the deadline when a team may want to add a power bat to their lineup for a playoff push. Aaron Hill should also be shopped along with any of our relievers and any of our starting pitchers. I would think about sending Cahill to triple A for a start or two to iron out his mechanics and then hope he can get some quality starts in before the deadline and ship him off as well. Any player who is eligible for arbitration and older (except Goldschmidt) should be available for trade.
