NFL has it's own grading system on the new layout- if you flip through each of the NFLW teams the Cardinals got the most bang for the buck on the 1-100 grading system.

even with a large margine of error BPA should rule drafting for need?

Cards average of 7 picks 72.52 - with 2 picks under 100

Rams average of 9 picks 72.34 - with 6 picks under 100 (1 with no grade)

49ers average of 7 picks 66.97 with 2 picks under 100

Seahawks average of 9 picks 56.66 with 3 picks under 100 (1 with no grade)

Our front office has done well since Whiz became coach. Graves has grown in the job and Kiem and his scouts have done wonders. I look now to camps and pre season to see how we look on the field.

Thats interesting how the 'Needs' bracket on that site indicates Safety as a need.

Thats either impressive research/journalism or a reach.

1. yes, we do need a safety because Adub wont be around forever. However we dont need him right now.

But I dont think thats the case (good team analysis) because its coming from the same people who think Kolb is our shoe-in QB. Ive not once heard Skeltons name this offseason (from ESPN/Sportscenter/Draft experts) its all Kolb, Kolb and Kolb. When in reality, Skelton won us the games last year. IMO, most AZers have John in mind as our starting QB.

I have actually heard several analysts who believe Skelton will be the starter by the end of the year.

A lot of pressure with a contract like Kolb to start him.

As much as I think Skelton has improved, I give our D the credit for the wins.

Interesting. Did there seem to be a consensus as to why? Kolb's concussions or on field performance?

I will say this, if by some act of providence Kolb does not get a concussion, he will play well enough that Skelton will never see the field. I like Skelton and if he can improve his accuracy, he has all the physical tools and mind set to be a starter, but Kolb is better than some people would like to believe

I like to think it is Skeltons 6-2 performance, yes he was slow to start- struggled alot like Tbow- but came through in the crunch- I mean Kolb came throgh in Dallas but John Skelton can throw that booger through a wall.

I don't think the Cards have drafted well at alll under Whiz, My bottom line is what can you get out of a player after you draft and develope that player! Or do you screw them up and make them valued less?

Could we trade Levi? DRC? The Bean? Dan Wiliams? or PP? for the pick they were drafted at? that is how I value players in there prime. They are like race cars that need tuned to run at the highest level. PP for sure- this year.

Skelton is worth more than we gave for him-(maybe) but we traded up to get him - so not by much. We could not get what we gave for Kolb as soon as we traded - Like driving a car that needs repaired off the lot.
He may cost more to restore than he is worth. you better like that car.

Vonnie Holiday is great at the end - the best FA is like Berry and Chike coming after they were propery tuned up in there prime and trying not to screw them up - like Horton said about Mcfadden.

Porter, Faneca and RB Taylor were not restorable at any cost, there old teams used them all up - like a responsible winning FO should. Thank them for their effort -one fans opinion.

NFL Players are more like tools with a shelf life rather than employees that earn raises. They can move past to coaches or TV, but as players they are snap-on starters or craftsman depth players. When it breaks send it and get another one.

I wasn't implying DA is better than Leinart. I actually would have given Leinart the job in '08 (thought he and Warner played even and I would have gone with the younger guy with potential - and I would have been wrong) and I would have given him the job in '10 too (same reason w/ him vs. DA). But, if anyone that gets paid to analyze football talent for a living felt the way you do about Leinart, he wouldn't be on his third team and signed after the traditional FA signing period. And, for the record, I thought your original post was insightful. Just tried to tell an over the top joke that fell flat - not the first time and probably not the last.

I hope one day Leinart has the chance to prove one of us wrong on the field.

NOTE - Wasn't trying to hijack the thread with Leinart debate #16 million. As I said, I thought the original post was insightful, and I agree that we got great value with just about all of our draft picks.

glad you survived that wild pitcher

I don't dislike DA- bless his heart he tried to be great- He put his heart and soul into it- do you think he wanted to go out and embarress himself, his team and his family on Monday night Football! His MN Meltdown light was embarressing to me as a hard core Cardinal fan.

But not nearly as embarressed as a cardinal fan as I was when I bet the Saints fan 10 pushups per point difference in the 09 divisional playoff game, I had to post a picture of me doing the pushups, state the Saints were the king and the master of my universe, and I had to cheer for them until they lost again - THEY NEVER LOST AGAIN!

My Cardinals gave up- surrendered - punked out with 6 minutes left in the 3rd 1/4 of a divisional playoff game! We have never been right since- Whiz blamed the players - I blame him for not having HIS players ready to play - and only running the ball 10 times as the Saints keyed on the pass game- killed Kurt- caused pass game turnovers- and basically threw my Cardinals to the ground and had their way with us on National TV!

Whiz treated Matty like a punk- like he treated Edge- Q and Beanie, Fitz better watch out lobbying for Floyd- Q lobbied for Edge! hard! Edge did nothing but lead us to the playoffs -to the SB where Whiz and Haley only ran 10 times! We were not far behind until the stupid playcall that resulted in a 100+ yard pick 6 as time ran out in the first half- 14 point pass game swing. then we were in crisis and forgot to establish the run even after retaking the lead.

Yes we need a safety developing,

folks can scratch out my eyes- But i know damn well Matt Leinart should nott have been cut - even if you leave him crying on the bench- We owed him $2.5 million for the rest of the year - with the $10+ million not due until the following year. Stupidest personell thing I ever seen - in case somebody has not heard.

A Manuer spreader going across the field kicking the crap out of it's self!

UFA Max Hall beat out Matt Leinart for a spot on this team- I never bought what Whiz is selling- and if this team can't follow Leinarts lead - Shame on them! They shamed themselves.

I wish there were more places on the internet what would search old Draft grades from old drafts and grill the predictions of the so called experts. Like this grade for example? What all the Card's picks above 100 turned out to be busts?

Ray Horton and his defensive squad would like some appreciation here. I don't think Skelton was also playing linebacker when the defense was giving up 10 less PPG the second half of the season.

What's the matter with you, Skelton can beat the crap out of Chuck Noris.

well

I averaged the NFL grades by the amount of picks taken. But the RAMS had 6 picks under 100 in the draft! I think the Patriots might have done that once? But the other NFCW teams have had multiple 1st round picks in the same drafts these last few years- didd pretty crapppy with them!

This keeps us in the game with oir bad FA pick ups and bad drafts. yea we draft 36% starters- but would they start elsewhere?
