I wouldn't mind seeing OLB/DE taken in the first round and RB in the second round. Gurley will probably be gone. I'd be happy to take Coleman or Yeldon in the second round. Abdullah and Duke Johnson have talent but Id prefer a more physical RB to pair with Ellington. Thomas Rawls has questionable character/maturity but if he goes undrafted he might be worth taking a look at.

If management isn't high on most of the highly ranked QBs I'd probably look at signing Connor Halliday if he goes undrafted and see what kind of impression he can make. He has had a better career at Washington st than Thomas had at Vatech.

Moved up three spots to 27th in the draft with the loss to the Niner's. The Cardinals ended the season with the highest SOS amongst the playoff teams so they slot in last amid teams with identical records. Finishing 12-4 would have seen the Cardinals drafting 30th.

The RB is Tevin Coleman, whos one my favorites. He doesnt get the hype of Gurley or Gordon, but I think hes just as good as either.

Shane Ray has been my pick all year, then everyone else caught up, now hes projected to be top 5. so thats that. My fav lately is Nate Orchard. Hes not a freak, but hes darn good. Hes smart and he wins 1 on 1s with bigger, stronger Ts.

Plenty of freaks bust out in the NFL. Ill take a big production guy who wins with football IQ. Nate has enough speed and plenty of pass rush moves.



Im becoming a HUGE proponent of we need to replace Rashad. Ive felt he was responsible for 70% of the big plays against us this year. Holliman could be a good choice as a pure coverage guy, whereas Bucannon will be our box SS.

I agree with you on Coleman and I wouldn't be shocked if he is picked before Melvin Gordon.

Nate Orchard isn't a bad pick at the end of round one, but I don't feel like he is a pass rush guy out of a 3-4 or sub package DE. If he is the best edge guy around when we pick, I may look somewhere else and take Odighizuwa out of UCLA in round 2.

I also like Holliman, but it is tough to predict how the coaches will use Mathieu going forward. If they are committed to having both Mathieu and Bucannon in the base defense, no real point in wasting a first rounder on a sub package only player.

I hope we take a flyer on Shaquille Riddick out of West Virginia in the mid to late rounds. I think he can be a pass rush contributor.

I really like it when people start giving out opinions on players and then come up with percentiles like '70%'. Johnson is one of our leading players this year in getting turnovers. For the most part if one judges the whole season, it is he I believe who has called the secondary formations and has done it well and of late can not be held responsible when the whole defense has stumbled in the last three games. You ask some and they would say Peterson was the problem regarding big plays. Then you see Cromartie unable to stick with his man when a play breaks down, and when a play breaks down and succeeds, it has nothing to do with the secondary call being bad but our cornerbacks as Cromartie, Powers and Peterson forgetting their responsibilities. I know the problem, we need to draft a pass rusher so our secondary will not have to be responsible for what seems an eternity for them to cover under the new rules which favor the offense. Johnson is the least of our worries in this draft and has become a good player. Lastly, it is not Johnson's fault if Bowles thinks it is cool for our slow ILBs to cover the mid region of the field... and see Bucannon go through his rookie pains while being asked to cover TEs which is not what he did a lot in college

Count me in the "Tevin Coleman over Melvin Gordon" camp. We have not had great success with 2nd round running backs (Tony Jeffrey, Anthony Thompson, Leeland McElroy, just off the top of my head), but Coleman would be a nice pick there. If not, I could see Duke Johnson in the 3rd round.
