Draft recap

I'm sure we all know by now the majority of the draft is a crap shoot. You really never know what you're getting especially after the second round. I can remember past years where I loved pics and they turned out to be nothing (Dorian Johnson, Ryan Williams, Buster Davis, Daryl Blackstock, Levar Fisher, Leeland McElroy are perfect examples), pics that made me say "what?" that turned out to be great pics (Markus Golden and David Johnson in recent years) and then players I really wanted us to take who turned out to be good pics (Budda Baker, Deone, Mathieu, Dockett, and Boldin). With that being said, I really like this class. I think the first two pics are home runs at first glance and could really add two pieces to our core. The rest I'm really not sure about but I'm willing to wait and hope we found a gem or two. To my knowledge no one on this board is a professional scout or coach, or has ever even been paid to evaluate talent on the football field. A few have been very outspoken the last few days in their displeasure of the pics, and to be honest it's pretty annoying. Let's give it a little time and see what we got this year. I for one feel a lot better about the upcoming season after this draft, and a hell of a lot better about the seasons to follow. Rise up red sea! We finally got our QB!

I think the Cardinals going after a top QB made my draft.

It's not if he succeeds or fails but the Cardinals finally committed to getting one by moving up in the draft... when Rosen came within reach. It's the proactive move I like.

Of course I want him to succeed but the Cardinals get kudos from me for making the move.

I have looked at the grades and they are all across the board. I have seen guys rate our later round players as average to some rate them as grade 'A' for when they where picked... watch the games, there is only one way we are going to find out

I have looked at the grades and they are all across the board.

The whole concept of grading a draft at this point is so laughable.. the only thing sillier is all the mock drafts leading up to draft day.

Nobody has taken a single snap yet. If we want to grade drafts, we should be looking back 2-3-4 years and grading those. WAY too soon to slap a meaningful grade on anyone's draft before anyone has played a down of NFL football.

That said - I'm not excited about this class at all. I think Rosen has bust written all over him. Kirk should be good. The rest? No freaking idea, but lots of doubt. I hope every single one of them proves me wrong, particularly Rosen.

A couple of things:

1st of all please utilize paragraphs because it makes reading easier.

Harry has in fact been paid for his services in scouting college talent. He recently retired but still has a ton of contacts and his very much in the know.

Having said that it doesn't mean he is correct 100% of the time. I agree it is not fun hearing the negative but I'd rather have the opinion than not.

Actually I'm a fan of trading down in the draft in many cases for more bites at the apple. The draft can be a crap shoot.

However, in this case, I think Keim made the right move after refusing to trade down for a QB in past years.

Sometime a coach has to be proactive and not let other teams move ahead of you.

We all like to speculate, but I agree that ultimately it is all an opinion whether informed or not. Teams are right or wrong about player evaluations all the time, why should it be any different for the pundits or people that have been paid to scout before?

I also noticed how quickly he gets rid of the ball. Being that he isn't that mobile this is a must. Also keeps the ball high and doesn't fumble much.

Cards still have achilles heel at CB position. They will get burned over and over at that spot and should cost them a couple games at least. Maybe they will finally address it next draft, hopefully before PP lifespan with them is over.

I'm not trying to throw shade at Harry. He is obviously a very talented writer and extremely knowledgeable. Yes saying, this draft might be one that puts us at the top of our division for years to come. . or it might not be, but really only time will tell. Go Cards!

It is a crap shoot, but for me I like to see where I stack up against the so called experts. I also like to see if I see something that comes out either good or bad. I have always been a draft junkie and apparently have passed that on to my son too. If is something fun to do when there are no games. The draft is my second favorite day of the year.
