Look on the bright side, Mel Kiper won't bash the Cards if they draft Eli! ;)

I view it this way - Based on his performance vs. LSU, Manning drops from his exalted position as "The Only Guy in the Whole Wide World We Should Ever Consider Drafting or We Will All Die" to mere mortal who should be evaluated within the context of other QB options we have available to us (via the draft, free agency or on our own roster) and other needs considered equally or more pressing than QB.

Yeah, screw it. Let's root for the Cards to win today.

4. If you want a longshot, take Harris out of Bowling Green. He lacks discipline, but reminds me of Carter. His can win with his arms or his legs, but can he play under control?

Looks like the secret is out on Harris:

Pinnacle, Chris Simms bad games were outnumbered by his good games so I am not sure that is how we analyze this...and I would argue Simms was born and bred to play QB too. I am not anti-Manning...quite the contrary. I just wish I had faith Graves would pull the trigger if he is on the board.

What exactly is this supposed to mean?? Sheash, let the guy start at least ONE NFL game before we label him a bust. Everything I've read says Gruden is very impressed with Simms, and feels he was subject to bad coaching at UT.

It means exactly what I said. There are still question marks about Manning. But my feeling is the Cards will pass on taking him. I believe firmly that there are things the Cards won't do generally speaking and drafting a QB as high as they will pick is one of those things.'

Just so I know, can you please show me where I said anyone was or would be a bust in my post? All I was saying is the born and bred argument doesn' hold alot of water because of how Simms played at UT. Doesn' matter how good his coaching was or wasn't.

I wasn't even saying Simms was a bust, just making the comparison to his upbringing and Mannings

I am starting to find chinks in Peyton's suit of armour. I look at his game by game statistics and his big games were against "bad teams this year". UL Monroe, Arkansas State,Vanderbilt, S Car., Memphis and Texas Tech. He got shut down by Florida and LSU. Given his bloodlines, he should be all world. I just wonder if we are paying too much attention to the father and brother factor. Nah. probab;y not, but possible.

I watched part of the Harris bowl game.

He runs well, and is a deadly short-medium range passer - particularly on the run.

He is not that accurate deep and I saw him get nailed from behind in the backfield a lot.

In some ways, he reminds me of a few past Nebraska option QB's only with a better arm.

Regarding Manning - I think the thing that's bugging me about him is that I don't have the same warm, fuzzy feeling about Eli that I did when I first saw guys like Elway, McNabb and Bledsoe when they were still in college and about to enter the draft.

Jeff,

Finally, someone has put into words what I've been feeling for some time now regarding Manning.........he just doesn't give me the wam fuzzy feeling versus guys like Elway, McNabb and Bledsoe..........add in even his brother, "Air" McNair (Syracuse), and Dante Culpepper (Central Florida).

Jeff- I think the difference is that we either weren't in position or in the market to pick any of those guys. Now that we may be it gets a little tighter. Kind of like gambling house money vs. your own money.:p
