Wimbley was taken off the market as well. Raiders used their team option on him today.

Carolina will also most likely tag C-Ryan Kalil or DE-Charles Johnson. According to Schefter.

Chad Greenway franchised:

Cue Shane H coming in here and proclaiming that there won't be a franchise tag once the CBA expires, blah blah blah. Consider him off the market, guys.
Never ever said there wont be a franchise tag. Said in two weeks all these supposed tags are worthless unless a CBA is agreed upon before then. Also said nobody knows if there will even be a tag in the next CBA. Which is a fact regardless of how it turns out yay or nay.

And it was Kalil. So people who were hoping for him to replace Sendlein are going to be disappointed.

So... what's the difference between "won't be a franchise tag" and the bolded above? Obviously there's been no real discussion of the franchise tag being negotiated away, and Jim Irsay isn't going to negotiate a deal where Peyton Manning immediately becomes a free agent. Give me a break.

Technically, you're right, but even if the CBA ends and the NFLPA de-certifies, ownerships aren't going to poach each other's franchise players.

TE Mercades Lewis is going to get the tag from Jaguars and Pitt is most likely going to use the transition tag on Ike Taylor.

Browns also franchised their kicker.

Teams are not spending money or re-signing guys until a new CBA is done. The record amount of tags prove as such.

And Kamerion Wimbley's tag is official: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6154940 You have to wonder if Al Davis is going to make his boy Miller the highest-paid TE in the NFL before the CBA expires.

Teams are getting deals done with players: The Raiders, Bucs, and Broncos have all negotiated extensions since the end of the season. I'm not surprised the Cards haven't done anything on extensions since Darnell Dockett, just disappointed. I was fine with letting Dansby and Rolle leave as long as the Cards took that savings and locked up their own. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of players in a hurry to stay in town, or the Cards don't believe much in their own roster.

meanwhile, I hear Graves has his handicap down to a 7. He has to be doing something to pass his time because it isn't doing anything football related. May as well sharpen up the short game.

So a crazy old owner, the cheapest team in the NFL, and the Broncos who gave out a contract with zero signing bonus to a player who doesnt get paid a dime until he gets a game check, a deal the bulk of the in the NFL wouldnt sign without any sort of up front money involved.

Bailey got a deal that only gaurantee's he gets every single game check, he got zero up front money though.

That's all well and good, joe, but combined with the Jets during the season, the Eagles during the season, and a couple of other teams, you can't act like the Cards are being proactive with securing the services of their current players. As I said, I'm not mad, I'm disappointed.

A Lyle Sendlein contract extension isn't going to break the bank even if there's a 20% reduction in the salary cap in a new CBA. Why couldn't something have been done there?

I said it when we let Los and Rolle leave, and I said it when we signed Dockett in October: those moves only make sense combined with essentially no action in free agency if the Cards re-sign 2 players before the end of the league year. They can be forgiven if the Cards lock up their core.

Now? We're a week away from 3 of our starting 5 OL reaching free agency, our second-best WR reaching FA, and a whole bunch of other guys one year away from FA, including the best player on the team.

This just solidifies our need to take Von Miller with the 5th pick and not try for a developmental QB gabbert or trade the pick.

I love irony.
