So apparently the deal was done in the summer but JJ refused to trade Bridges.

That's not the way Jones explained it. He said they didn't really even want to make a deal basically so it never got that serious - but yeah Suns initial offer did not include Bridges.

I am really curious what deal the Suns had lined up for Crowder where they almost called the deal off when the Nets wanted him included.

Probably 5 second round picks judging from the general trade environment.

According to Windhorst that’s the story. Joe Tsai and Sean Marks were ready to send Durant to Phoenix but JJ wouldn’t come off Bridges

It will be interesting how this plays out. If JJ didn’t want to get rid of Mikal and Ish said to do it, how will JJ feel about getting overwritten like that?

Why are you concerned about JJ’s feeling?

I suppose he will feel like any other manager that gets overridden by an owner. It's part of business that sometimes the person with the last say will go another direction. If you can't handle that when you are the person being overridden than maybe the job isn't for you.

Well it’s a message board.
But there is no call to be a jerk. You said you were concerned about Warren I asked why and you have a snarky remark. I posted about something completely different and you troll because you didn’t like my response. Juvenile and trolling.

Honestly, it wouldn't bother me one bit if Ishbia wants to move on from Jones and/or Monty and bring in his own people. I think both have done an okay job here, but not as much so as some give them credit for.

I don't like the way it would look especially if we win it all this year. I wouldn't have a problem with it otherwise but as a tarnished franchise I think we have to concern ourselves more with perception than most clubs would. Still, win it all in back to back years with a new GM and Head Coach in position for the second one and it's no more than a blip PR-wise.

Is it just me or is this description of Cam Johnson, from the espn article on the trade, kind of odd:

I mean, it is not exactly wrong, but I would never describe Cam and his game like this (not to mention that I’m pretty sure they meant ‘positions‘ not ‘possessions’).

Very odd. I think this is written by someone who has  never watched Cam play. I'm a Cam Johnson fan, but the author of this article is talking him (and Bridges) up way too much.

That is a pretty accurate Bridges write up but hyping up Cam Johnson as foremost and defender and ball handler, while not mentioning his shooting is bizarre.

I'd call him a great spot up shooter and plus defender.

I am no expert and I love Monty as a coach during the season. But it seems to me he gets out coached in the playoffs. Maybe it’s just me.

I don't really know. We certainly got outplayed in the playoffs, what caused it still perplexes me. Especially since the dropoff in performance started several weeks before the playoffs. We all coach better than him sitting in the stands or in front of a TV but who really knows. I'm more concerned about his relationship clashes and his apparent hard-headedness.

Surprised no shared this, figured it works here. Book is already recruiting for when CP3 and KD are done...

I would like to believe it wouldn’t take to much work to get mikal back, but a lot can happen in 3 years.
