Yes we tried him on a few occasions and he got shelled every time. Look at his game log for this year and you'll be extremely unimpressed.

They hoped Nippert would eventually be a starter, but he was awful at the major league level. This game against the M's was an aberration. A few weeks ago, he got scorched by Tampa for 7 runs over four innings. He had his chance here and he simply stunk, 50 runs in 70 innings over bits and pieces of three seasons (that's a 6.42 ERA). The D-backs are not missing that guy.
