XVID is the decoder program I hate to download to be able to view the movie in windows explorer. Does that make sense to you guys? Will I be able to burn it if I get a dvd burning software on my pc and will my DVD player play it?

DJ,

My time is 60/hour, fortunately I can still develop while its downloading in the backgroup also keeps running while i sleep :D

If you need xvid, then what you have is not a DVD, rather it is a .avi file. A downloaded DVD should be around 4464 MB and come in the form of a disk image or VIDEO_TS folder, whereas a .avi file would be around 700 MB per part. You can not easily burn xvid movies to play on your DVD player as the formats are totally different. DVD is MPEG2, whereas xvid is MPEG4. There are some players available (at least in Asia) that can play xvid files, but they are expensive.

If your computer has a video card with an svideo out, I would suggest hooking it up to a TV.

If you want something with menus and other stuff that's playable on a DVD player, you need to get something that is either a disk image file or a VIDEO_TS folder. There is a special section at suprnova for DVD-R. Just make sure what you get is NTSC and not PAL. Also, unless you are willing to shell out for dual layer discs, you probably don't want to download anything larger than 4464 MB.

You could always just buy the movie. What does cost $14.99?

I used to do this kind of stuff all the time. Now I finally am realizing that the same movie will cost $19.99 soon because of this kind of stuff.
