I know a lot of Cardinal fans like the guy, but I really wanted to upgrade the postion in the offseason and nothing I've seen so far this season has changed my mind. He has a lot of issues and though he has stayed healthy this season, I just don't think he brings enough on special teams and his inconstentcy as a receiver is a major problem.

He is just another example of Rod Graves and Ken Whisenhunt settling for mediocrity IMO.

He's the 3rd or 4th WR. Mediocrity is what you're going to get.

Agreed.

I can't wait till we get a WR that can give us that mediocrity.

Doucet downright sucks, is a punk, and a choke artist. If only he could catch as well as he talks and acts the fool after the whistle.

Can't stand the guy, and the fact he was the answer to the questions left when Boldin was traded makes it worse.

Time for a Gabe Watson type of stay in the Cardinals doghouse.

I can't remember the last game that he did NOT drop a critical pass....

It was Miami or Buffalo..... one of the earlier games.

Came across the middle for a 1st down, caught it, and got absolutely lit up. Still caught the 1st down pass.

Of course then got up, and started jawing in the defender's face for some reason or another, but that is just Douchet acting like Douchet.

Besides that catch ? Maybe the big play he had in the Niners game last year, and before that ? The Green Bay game ? .....oh, Eagles game last year he caught an easy TD pass.

The drops ? LOL. Too many to count, and too many Douchet apologists on this board to comment on.

Early Doucet is to catching passes as Neil Rackers is to kicking field goals.

A lot of people complained about Doucet and Roberts during the offseason but I felt they were both hard to evaluate, they both might be good, both could be awful, because neither had been given opportunities to make plays and were frequently ignored no matter how open they got.

At this point I feel pretty confident in saying that Roberts is a weapon, a solid receiver who runs great routes and can make stuff happen once he gets the ball in his hands. And I feel equally confident in saying Doucet blows. Give Floyd (who when targeted has shown some great hands) all of Doucet's PT. Floyd has ~30% more yards than Doucet does on the season despite getting a fraction of the PT the Early has.

I was in that group. Roberts has impressed me this year. Doucet has not. I wouldn't even dress him the next few weeks. Dress Byrd instead. That kid impressed me in the preseason, catching everything, including high passes over the middle where he got laid out. See if he can play like that in a game. Maybe he can be our #4. And hopefully Floyd develops into who we all hoped he was in the draft. We would have a scary WR corps if so

He wont be back after this year.

Andre is a more than dangerous slot guy. Floyd will be our #2.

I remember when the Cards drafted him and people compared him to Q and people said he'd replace Q. Silliness. There is no replacement for Q. Ever.

that is why we used a #1 draft pick on a WR :)

I wouldn't go that far. Q left one hell of a hole to fill, but he's replaceable. It's not like we lost Fitz

exactly. The kid isn't there yet, but I was very excited when we took him based on his college performance

Everyone is replaceable, at one point or the other. To think otherwise is silliness.

Unless hopping up and down in a defenders face EVERY time he gets touched is showing some restraint.

Half the time I have no idea what Early is all keyed up about, it is not because he made a big play in a big situation, that is for sure.

agreed. But saying Doucet was the next Q definitely is silliness as well
There was potential early on... he had some Q'istic like performances breaking thru multiple tackles scoring TD (2009 first round playoff performance against GB) prompting Q comparisons but after that either was injured or regressed or not progressed. Obviously, he is no where even close to Q.

Early Doucet is like the ninth-biggest problem for this team right now. C'mon, mang.

Not when he is dropping key third down catches killing drives for an offense desperate for yards & points.

1. Kevin Kolb's health and salary
2. John Skelton's inconsistency
3. Ryan Williams' ability to contribute anything
4. Beanie Wells' ability to stay healthy
5. Todd Heap still being on the roster
6. Jeff King's complete disappearance
7. The defense's complete inability to get a pass rush from 4 rushers
8. The sub-par play of our highest-paid active offensive linemen (the guards)

Sorry. Early Doucet is no more than the 9th most important issue facing the Arizona Cardinals. He's the #4 WR and the #5 passing target on most plays.

Exactly. He's irrelevant so get him off the field and play someone who might be relevant.

 I'm an unapologetic Early Doucet fan. I'd still rather have him on the field than Dominique Byrd, who had his own problems holding on to the ball in preseason. It's not like Jerry Rice is sitting on the sidelines and Early Doucet is taking PT away from him.

Doucet is the only WR who isn't bellyaching to the officials after every incomplete pass. That's enough for me to stand with him. I'm fine with Doucet yielding time to Michael Floyd. I hope that Floyd takes his job.

But I hope more that we see fewer 4 WR sets altogether in the second half of the season.

Hasn't that become much less of an issue with the emergence of Housler?

Otherwise, I agree with everything else you mentioned...

As a receiver, yeah, but if he's only going to be a blocking tight end, then we need to get a better blocking tight end.

Housler's really turned me around on him, although he had his share of drops on Sunday, too. I'm always going to prefer 12 personnel (one back, 2 TE) over 21 personnel, because I think that it gives you better matchups when you get right down to it.
