Cyrus is not a great LT. He is too raw. Hes a project for a team that has current stability on the line (like the Rams with Jake Long). We need a day 1 starter and Cyrus would get eaten alive. Although Im not a big Lewan fan, he is full grown as a player. Hes no star (way too many technical deficiencies) but you know what youre getting. A Good run blocker who will occasionally get beat by a speed guy.

Jeffcoat is not 2nd round talent. 3rd+

Mccarron is not 3rd round talent. 4th+. And moreover, when it comes to QBs - either you are a franchise guy or youre not. Theres no sense in drafting a backup. Either draft 1 QB early to be your guy, or none at all.

Sutton may be going in the late 1st round. Likely somewhere in 2nd. Hell be loooong gone.

Coyle is way undersized. He cant block in the NFL. Hes a big WR at best at the next level

If you do a search on McCarron you will see some pundits comparing him to Tom Brady. I would be very surprised if he drops to the 4th and given the way QBs have gone the last couple years it wouldn’t shock me if he didn't make it out of the 2nd. Cyrus will go higher than you think but he is young.

I don't like the Ogbuehi pick at all. He hasn't even played LT in college. To project him as a 1st round LT in the NFL makes no sense to me. The reason Matthews returned to A&M was to prove he could play LT.

On the other hand, I was bored and did my first Cards mock draft of the year and came up with this:

1- Ra'shead Hageman: DE from Minnesota. DD is going to need replaced at some point and Hageman is an athletic monster that would pair his 6'6 frame nicely with 6'8 frame of CC.

2(a)- James Hurst: OT, North Carolina. He may be a 2nd round pick but he's still a major upgrade over Sowell and has the talent to be a very good starter in the NFL.

2(b)- I'm trading the 2015 2nd rounder and this years 5th(estimate) and selecting Zach Mettenberger as our QBOF. The more I saw him this year the more I liked. He was always probably an early to mid 2nd rounder and his injury will likely make him available later in round 2.

3- Carlos Hyde: RB, Ohio State. I know many don't think RB is a need but I disagree. Mendenhall likely is not back, Ellington isn't an everydown back and never will be, and Taylor is not the answer. Carlos Hyde is in the Frank Gore mode and is as good as RB as I have seen this year.

4- DeMarcus Lawrence:DLB, Bosie St. I was tempted to select Jackson Jeffcoat just to keep the Texas DE/OLB tradition going but Lawrence give us a better chance at developing a pass rushing OLB.

5- Traded.

6- Tyler Lawson, C, Utah St. He's a very good run blocker and very strong at the point of attack, two things Sendlein is not.

7- CJ Barnett, SS, Ohio State. He's battled injuries and sometimes tries for the knockout hit too often, but if he can stay healthy, he can be a very good SS.

Similar page as you...

1-Ra'shede Hageman - DE - Minnesota

2-Brandon Sherff - OT - Iowa

3-Denzel Perryman - OLB - Miami

4-Jeff Matthews - QB - Cornell (this is way above his ranking right now, but I believe he will rise in post season workouts.)

If Jordan --[Russell Wilson] Lynch is available in rnd. 2 I hope we grab him .

Jordan Lynch is a QB in name only. Probably end up being a safety, if anything. Don't even see him as a RB. Hello CFL.

Being another Big 10 guy, I have seen Hageman play alot and his motor worries me. Great physical ability if he is motivated. Maybe he just reminds me of a bigger Wendall Bryant.

I think that is Duckjake's guy, Bortles. I haven't seen enough of him to have an opinion and I can't go by DJ's recommendation alone :D. He has the size at 6'4 230, if he declares, which he should, that just adds another good QB into the mix.

Just for consideration: Bortles vs Penn State 192.9 QB rating. VS South Carolina 160.2. vs Louisville 145.6. So he hasn't been running up numbers just vs lesser talent.

But he'll never amount to anything in the NFL.

Bryant issue was smoking weed and a lack of desire to play football, I don't get that from Hageman. Defensive linemen normally get questions about their motor because people forget how much effort it takes to play their positions. Not saying it might not be justified, but this is the first I have heard of it.
