I thought Skelton did a very poor job of handling Seattle's pressure in the second half. I was actually hoping Whis would insert Kolb and run the hurry-up on the drive that Skelton got hurt. Skelton kept panicking and forcing the ball to Fitz. It was unfortunate that Skelton got hurt, but if he hadn't, the Cardinals are probably 0-1 right now.

I'm not sure if Skelton is failing to diagnose the blitz pre-snap or if he is still struggling w/ his progressions, but it was pretty bad. This is probably the biggest area he will have to improve on if he wants the starting QB job long term. As of right now, the gameplan against him has to be blitz him and double Larry.

That's how the niners play Skelton, Harbaugh is one smart motivational dude. I think one of the benefits Kolb had on Sunday was being able to be on the sideline and watching what Skelton was missing. I've seen Skelton do the same thing when Kolb has come out of games. It's just easier when you watch someone else missing out on stuff they don't see while on the field, but you and the coaches see it clear as day.

I also think there may be something to our QBs practicing against our starting defense, man they come in as the "back-up", and then they light it up. My conclusion is beginning to sway towards the....who ever is getting the first string reps is less prepared than the back-ups facing our best defense hypoth. Is that too wild to say? Should I pass it to the left hand side?? :D

Some teams typically practice 1st Offense vs. 2nd Defense, and vice versa, the Cardinals, on the other hand, typically go 1st Offense vs. 1st Defense, etc.
