It'll be interesting to see what's going to live on. My guess on early cancellations is:

1. Lipstick Jungle
2. 'Til Death
3. Life
4. My Own Worst Enemy
5. Kath & Kim

That won't happen because NBC doesn't really have a back-up plan aside from stealing from their Canadian brand, and there's not much pickings there. still, LJ is probably gone as soon as Monday. I'm guessing Life will get the axe over MOWE because NBC put their eggs in the latter. Stupid, I think, because (a) Life is almost pulling in a bigger audience on a night when no one watches (Friday) and (b) Life is a better show to about x100. Life in the news lead-in Monday slot looks a lot better than MOWE. NBC will just have to live with the fact they simply don't have a CSI: Miami killer. In the meantime, Life could probably challenge for second or third in that slot. But NBC programming is a clueless lot with no real feel for quality. They're all about the numbers and demographics, thus ... we get Knight Rider, a mild hit, while losing shows like Journeyman, which could have faired better in a different slot other than Monday at 9pm.

Other shows I think teetering on getting the boot:

- Chuck
- Terminator
- Heroes (definitely if not for their demographic hits)
- Fringe (possibly getting the boot when The Dollhouse debuts OR becomes the lead-in to The Dollhouse)

Wasn't "Terminator" just re-upped?

The only reason I could see My Own Worst Enemy, Chuck and Heroes canceled would be because I have them on my TiVo season pass. That's the kiss of death...just ask "New Amsterdam" and "The Dresden Files."

In all honesty, though, without the ongoing mystery and week to week intrigue that it had in season one and somewhat in season two, I could see Heroes being canceled. And, I wouldn't miss it much, either.

If I understood correctly, they bought the rest of the season for Terminator. It doesn't mean they'll show them. I guess it depends what else Fox has. I can't believe they've been holding Dollhouse on the shelf for so long. It's one of the most highly anticipated shows of the season.

Terminator could easily be re-packaged for the summer, in which Fox is expected to maintain the illusion of new programming better than most.

I think they all have a great chance of staying. the first list i only watch lipstick jungle and my own worst enemy. my own worst enemy i think will stay I think lipstick jungle needs to move away from the whole younger guy older women thing and move in a different direction although i have seen the last episode but its on my dvr list. what do you guys think about til death life kath and kim and chuck do you think they will stay around?

Heroes season one was incredible. Season two was so-so and season 3 is not very good. This was built to be a one season deal. It had the feel of a long movie. Once you've saved the world it just seems kind of stupid to start all over again.

Sadly, Pushing Daisies looks like it might be on the block this early season--it's ratings are terrible.

The first 3 or 4 episodes of season 1 were incredible. It was a decent and interesting first season with a terrible season finale that year. Season 2 was awful and season 3, while not as bad as season 2, is just too damn confusing.

Word is though that at least the writers are going to settle themselves down and eliminate the time travel angle further this season. That can only be a positive IMO.

That fast girl really annoys me. And what exactly is the doctor's super power? How does he put people in those cocoons? And how is it that nobody ever dies? Everybody has a twin or they just show up unexplained (Malcolm McDowell) How many Peter's are there now? Did all the Peter's lose their power when the Dad stole his power last show?

I really hope Life doesn't get cancelled because it is quite good. As you said, though, they've put it in a tough spot. Hope it holds on. I hope that Fringe maintains too, but it doesn't speak well that they keep putting a week or two (now three) in between episodes. Heroes probably sticks around, although it doesn't really deserve to. The problem is that the cool idea and new angle cannot make up for really bad writing. Finally, there is no way Chuck gets canned. It started out as a longshot that turned some heads last year, and has taken it to a whole new level this year. It stays.

They have only separated fringe weeks i think because of the world series. i would cancel a few weeks of a show to get the series on my network i think fringe will maintain good rating despite the separated weeks.

OK, confession: I happen to know LJ is almost positively gone by Monday, probably replaced by L&O re-runs. Life and Chuck are waiting for an audience, but neither are sure things to last after mid-season.

Folks, it's not about the quality of the shows. It's about the numbers. NBC is getting it's butt kicked by dancing stars, crime scenes, and crass sit-coms. You and I like might Life, but our neighbors aren't watching it. Same goes for Chuck, which is pretty much the only show I watch on Mondays.

The only show having much success outside of the L&O universe for NBC right now is Knight Rider. If that continues, you can pretty much guarantee that's the kind of content NBC will put out in the near future.

It stands to reason that quality shows wil get watched. Sure, there are exceptions, but the primary way to stick is to make a quality product.

Doctor is basically an evil spiderman. He can stick to walls, he has super strength, and webs people.

Malcolm McDowell showing up is because he is a mental illusion being generated by Parkman's father.

We don't know how long Mr. Petrelli's power leech ability lasts for. As yet to be explained.

Its not a difficult plot to follow.

Too many characters and nothing makes a lot of sense. They keep introducing at least 1 character every 2 episodes, and surprise! They have powers. The whole premise right now is that they don't want everybody to have powers. Well, guess what? We're already there!

Agreed. Plot is not the problem with me. It's focus. They have been trying to jam so much into each episode that I think the show is lacking focus. You have these great moments in an episode followed by "do I even care" moments. It's been inconsistant.

I would like them to mini-serialize more like they did in Season 1.

In terms of the following shows:

1. Lipstick Jungle - could care less but my wife likes it
2. 'Til Death - Don't care
3. Life - Dont care
4. My Own Worst Enemy - I like this show so far
5. Kath & Kim = Don't Care
6. Chuck - Better not. This show keeps getting better. Love this show.
7. Terminator - Fox just ordered full season so it will last that long
8. Heroes - Seriously doubt it - No way it gets canceled before seasons end and I doubt it gets the hook.
9. Fringe - Show has some potential, I like it. Hope not.

Agreed... the entire time movement thing with Peter is over the top. When they had it contained only to Hiro it seemed manageable. Now you start to lose how many Peters there are, what time they are from and who is doing what when. As someone said previously I really think this show was written for one season. It appears they were totally lost as to what to do after that. I still like the idea, I still like most of the characters but I think the writers have even confused themselves beyond repair. I think this one will go away - I have very little excitement for the next episode, as I did for the first season.

There are lots of exceptions, particularly when a network puts a NEW show in a time slot against an already popular show. This is what happened last year to NBC in the 9pm slot. Seinfeld ALMOST got cancelled its first season because no one was watching it. The characters weren't fully developed, and only a handful at NBC had an inkling of what the show was attmempting. They bought it on the premise they were going to ride Seinfeld's popularity. They thought they were going to get his schtick, too. That turned out to be a very small part of the show, thankfully.

Lipstick just got moved to Fridays, which is where NBC sends shows to die. Hopefully this means Life moves to Wednesdays. Not sure yet. Life is a quality show, whether it draws numbers or not. Aestethically -- acting, writing directing -- I think the point is undisputable. The challenge is finding an adult audience in the right time slot.

The show's just not that charming anymore. No one's innocent, but we're not getting some bold anti-hero story, either. There were characters from the first season that had no real connection to the story line and just made it irritating every time they appeared on screen. Like Nikki. And the girl with the toxic tears. There's nothing poetic about them. There COULD have been, but they thrust them into convoluted plot lines without trying harder to find the characters' pulse. It's been my complaint from mid-Season 1 there are too many characters. There's a way to write for a large ensemble cast and I think Lost has the formula copyrighted for it. Heroes should have shrunk the hero universe and invested more in character development over plot twists.

This year, in place of character development, they've opted to flip the tables on heroes/villains. So if you've connected with any of them, now you're sure to feel alienated. Sylar is the only interesting character left on the show. I find myself hoping he's the storyline in every episode now.

Saw on the last episode of Life that it's moving to Wed.

I love Life. Hopefully Wednesdays will help it rating. Friday was a terrible day for it. I usually watched it on DVR on Sunday.

I bailed on fringe after two episodes. I couldn’t stand the characters and the horrible acting.

I liked the first two seasons of Heroes, but I still haven’t been able to make it through the first episode this year. I’ve watched in segments and still have 25% left. I’ll probably delete the season if I need the DVR space.

I already terminated Terminator. I needed the space, I’ll probably still watch on DVD.

I'm with you on this. And it pains me to think Darren Morgan has been involved with this show as a consultant. If he'd been writing it, it would have been much better.
