Eastbound and Down is one of the best shows currently on television. Since the show began it’s been picking up followers like wild fire, and deservedly so. Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) is a character that’s endlessly watchable. He’s despicable, but you still sympathize with him. More Kenny Powers is never a bad thing. Season two of the series is set to air this September and for a while now, it’s been rumored and expected that this would be the final season.
Thankfully, that may not be the case.
When I recently talked to director Adam McKay – a producer on the show – I had to ask if season two would really be the last we’d see of Kenny Powers. McKay said it may not be, “No, no. I think they’re talking about doing a third season. They have some ideas. They have some really strong ideas which, you know, I cant really say.” Where would we see Kenny Powers a little bit further down the line, though? “He’s in such a free fall. Part of the fun is what pieces of rocks he hits while falling. That’s definitely apart of the surprise of the whole show, but they got some pretty insane ideas.”
As McKay said, Kenny Powers is constantly on a free fall and despite all the crap he’s been through, we still haven’t seen him hit rock bottom quite yet. The odds are, things most likely wont end well for Kenny Powers and the prospect of seeing more of his own undoing is great news.
