James, who had 94 yards in the first meeting against the Rams in the third week of the season, didn't mind his teammates finishing off drives.

"I had an opportunity to go in, and I said, 'No, let Shipp go in,"' James said, "because they've been so supportive of me in practice and everything."

I hope this quells the debate once and for all.

Apparently Edge wasn't thinking of how much my fantasy football team needed him to get those TD's. Selfish.

I hope this quells the debate once and for all.

I mean, if we get 140 yards and 3 TDs out of our running game, does it really matter if edge gets everything in between the 10s, and shipp takes the big shots on the goal line to get the TDs?

Shipp is a good short yardage back because he just doesn't give a rats ass about getting hit. He runs like he would trade the rest of his career for one more yard.

Same here. AND, I sat Reggie Bush because he was only making ST points, and he was my RB so I didn't get the points he was making. Mah, who needs 40 fantasy points, anyway.........:(

Edge is a class act and a winner. He will lead us to the playoffs next year. I have always been a fan of Marcell Shipp and he is as well a class act. He always took his demotions with class and tact. He's a decent backup as well and I hope DG hasn't soured him on AZ because he was never one of "Denny's Boys". Congrats Marcell, I hope you stay for a while.

Shipp is a fantastic backup...but not a starter, IMO. I really like him as a backup and hope he can stick around.

Quite shocked at his TDs today...he ran stronger and faster than I've seen in years...

You can't question using Shipp on 3rd downs and short yardage given the successful outcomes.

But just out of curiosity - in light of Edge's skill picking up blitzes and catching out of the backfield - I'd like to know what the rationale for doing this is.

Each year that he was the starter he had a few fantastic games but would wear down as the season went on. I think that as a backup he's always fresh so we're always going to see him running at 100%.

The telecast showed that James asked out ot the game on the first Touchdown. Hey, as long as we win, I don't care who scores the touchdowns. The team looked to have a great attitude today. GO Cards.

Edge: Hell, these guys deserve to score as much as I do. They've fought just as hard.
Denny Green: Is that what I'm supposed to tell your mother when she see's another 0 in the TD catagory, while looking at the box score?

Glad to hear that he was with that program and actually wanted shipp and arrington in at the end.

After the second touchdown by Shipp i was worried that Edges ego was going to get bruised, but good for him.

With Edge in the game I think there is little doubt St Louis keys on him. With Shipp in the game there is as good a chance the Cards will pass as run and no one guy is going to shadow Shipp?

I agree. Chances are with Edge out the defense drops back to take away Fitz and Boldin. That leaves a better opening for the running game. Of course earlier in the year it may not have mattered because other teams defenses could stuff the run with only 6 or 7 men in the box.

Don't think so. They said he did the same thing in Indy. Even insisted that James Mungro be in the game so he could catch Manning's record breaking 48th TD pass.

Bickley said in his article that Edge said something like "I don't really care about the TDs, I just want the yards."

He also quoted Edge as saying "100 yard games here are like 500 yard games."

If I remember correctly, James Mungro and Dominic Rhodes got quite a few short yardage TDs in Indy too. James is not a grind it out back. If we win, who cares?
