Eli just tossed a touchdown in the first quarter, after a nice passing drive down the field.

This guy is the real deal. I was hoping he'd have a bad showing or something, get a weird injury, or whatever, so Ben would pass him on war room charts.

Any truth to the rumor that Graves and Mike Bidwill are at the Cotton Bowl? Maybe we can give McCown and our Number One for a shot at Eli? Nevermind...pipe dream.

Eli just threw a really bad ball for an INT. Looked like it left his hand weird, very wobbly unlike most his balls.

Hmm...throw more of those Eli...throw more. Make Ben look better than you. Fool them, fool them all! Muuuahahahahahaa!

:(

Another touchdown pass for Eli...he's around 160 yards right now.

I begin my silent chant....be there at 3, be there at 3, be there at 3, be there at 3.

Eli had em at the 10 with 30 seconds left, but couldn't get them in so they had to settle for a FG.

*rubs hands with glee*

*in a loud voice* I BET BIG BEN WOULD HAVE SCORED IN THAT SITUATION!!!

He just went over 10,000 yards for his career.

And I am now convinced that Eli will be available at 3 because I am personally willing it to happen.

Graves and Bidwill are meeting with him after the game, and planting some cocaine in his duffel bag, then calling the cops. His draft stock will drop, but we will know the real deal and draft him at three.

Well, that's what I'd do at least. Can I get a Hallelujah??

I don't think it's even that sinister. Graves knows our rep and that every pick we make is scrutinized. So the best way to get Manning is for us to make it perfectly clear that WE love the kid. The Chargers and Raiders will think "well if the Cards like him there's got to be something wrong" and they'll pass.

Eli with the QB sneak.

Boy, he's gonna look good in a Cardinal uniform.

Actually, the other qb in the game, Josh Fields, finished with a cotton bowl record in passing yards. I watched every snap of the game, and Eli was not that impressive against the 77th ranked defense in the nation.

We're gonna spend 10,000,000 on this guy when we've got McCown?

Your kidding me right?

Are you ****ing kidding me?? Did you see him play against LSU? In a "bad game" for him he almost had them beat them...and nobody scores on LSU.

On Manning's "bad days" he's better than many starting NFL qbs good days.

Jeez people, great potential is right there.

I hope the scouts fall on their faces and let Manning drop to three. Can you get a job as a scout...really damn quick?

When I was watching the game I saw a future NFL QB. Will he be good, I don't know, but he has the skills to do it. Watching him check plays off like how Manning does EFFECTIVELY in the NFL made me smile big time:D . Eli with such skills alone can be a good NFL QB quicker, and a better chance for being GREAT like his brother. I believe he could be better quicker in the NFL than his brother which was I believe either 16td-16int or 18-18. Why? It just seems to me Eli is further along in the QB maturation process than Peyton was at that time. Probably McCown too (Currently).

When they blitzed today he checked off, little 3 step drop, effortless fling for a completion on a blitz. Aren't we kinda saying if McCown could do some of this we would be set???

Just a thought. I was impressed. I wasn't looking for a domination performance per se, I was watching more of how he was as a QB, his arm, accuracy, improvisational skills, poise....and Eli's got it. He's worth the risk.

I saw plenty in his game to suggest if we take him at #3 he is no doubt a GREAT PICK.

Did anyone else catch part of the radio broadcast (went to the store) when the announcer said, "Peyton might be the hardest worker in the NFL, but Eli, has better physical tools"

Well I saw some good tools, and add with it his command when on the line of scrimmage and where he is in his career and you know this guy is special.

Hopefully, we'll get him.

I thought McCown performed much better than I expected I think it is time to drop the McClown label. I would still have a hard time picking between Ben and Eli if either are there at 3 I would take them. I could also see taking Fitzgerald and having Fitz, Boldin, and Johnson which would end up being three top WR's.

This was one of Eli's "good" games- this year he had 6 great games (Bama, Auburn, S.C., MSU, ASU and LMU), 6 good games (Florida, Arkansas, OSU, Memphis, Texas Tech and Vandy) and 1 "so-so" game (LSU). Not a truly bad game in his entire career. All in all a very solid season. He wasn't at his absolute most impressive against OSU, but the 25 mph wind affected both QBs' throws to some extent.

Ole Miss' defense played out of thier minds in that game. They scored a TD, and got four turnovers. They deserve the credit for keeping that game close, not Manning.

He may not have lit up the scoreboard, but his decision making was phenomenal. To those of you who don't really watch football but are stat geeks  , if you have the game taped, look at how many times he read blitzes correctly and checked off the primary receiver.

I think he had a fantastic game and controlled the game with his audibles and check offs.

Clearly we see different things. I see a guy who couldn't lead the Cardinals down the field to score. I never once saw a leader.

In McClown's three starts we never scored above 18 points.

Jeff Blake was sacked 19 times all year. McClown was sacked 25 times in what amounts to 3.5 games.

Set down the Kool-Aid. The guy is a backup at best.

Exactly...this guy is more NFL ready than anyone else in the draft, IMO. The way he recognized defenses and didn't get tunnel vision, allowing plays to develop was, for a college QB, phenomenal. I think he has a significant advantage over talented QBs like Big Ben and Rivers, and its in the position of the player on the learning curve.

Eli is gonna be good, no matter what team he goes to.

In drafting a QB high, is our objective: (a) that the dude play earlier for us than other QB prospects? or (b) that he become a better NFL quarterback than the other prospects - one who can take us to the Super Bowl?

Also - there's a trap in only comparing one prospect with others involved in the draft. The real question we should be asking is: "Are either Manning or Roethlisberger in the same league as an Elway or Bledsoe?

I believe our objective is b, but that only manning answers both A and B.

Manning will be a better QB than Bledsoe, but probably not Elway. But who knows? I see him being either slightly behind or a bit ahead of his brother. I think he's going to be smarter than Peyton on the field, and I like smart QBs.
