Ok--I'll play Devils' advocate here. Let's say Eli becomes GREAT. Anyone here think Mr. B. is going to pay out a kazillion dollars to keep him in a few years?? ie; his brother, Peyton. ...AND YES, I know he put out the bucks for Jake BUT look what happened. A bit of buyer beware or buyers' remorse lingering in the back of his mind?? Which brings us to "Big Ben". I saw the game against Iowa and he got picked (4) x's. Now, granted it's ONLY one game, and anyone can have a bad game and bounce back. ...And he did. A GREAT supporting cast can REALLY help you get back on track. BUT I did read somewhere that he might find the NFL "defensive-schemes" very-challenging. I'm NOT saying he might not turn out to be a GREAT QB. I remember hearing alot of times in Dan Marino's 1st year--"He shouldn't have thrown that pass" ie; double-coverage, etc. BUT Marino's arm was so strong he could force it in AND STILL get away w/it. So, (taking my "horns" off now) I'm hoping we get Fitz and complete Coach Greens' 3-wide receiver set. Thoughts?? NOTE: My ONLY REAL CONCERN is that we'll trade TOO FAR down and miss the guy we REALLY want. GO CARDS!!

You are on the right track but you still don't get it. :p

1. Phillip Rivers is the best QB in this draft.
2. Roethlisberger is the best athlete at the QB position in this draft.
3. Manning has the best PR.

The pick, if we don't trade down, will be Wilfork.

It's gonna be tough getting it over here from England, but we'll manage somehow. Do you want it in your front yard?

I would not take a QB. But I think both Eli and Ben have a real shot to make it in the NFL. If I had an extra pick to use on a QB I would probably take Ben ahead of Eli. I think both these guys will have some NFL success eventually. How much and how long who knows?

Interesting that the poll on the frontside shows Eli well ahead of Ben. In this thread Ben has the majority.

I would go with Ben also. It is a close call. I would not mind Eli at all but I would go with Ben.

An interesting alternative might be Rivers. I am high on him too and he is cheaper to get and we might even pick up a second round pick or a starter somwhere else by trading down.

But I definitly want to wind up with one of the three on draft day. I'm not at all for a WR or a DT or S in the first round.

Eli or Big Ben? Eli

Big Ben or Rivers? Easy...Rivers.

Eli or Rivers? Let me think about that one for a while.

I'm starting to lean toward Rivers. Simply because of the odds. Three good QB's in one family? Thats gotta be a long shot.

I would be pleased with this pick. I consider DT to be a big need and we get a good athlete all at once. The addition of a pass rush would improve another glaring hole in our defense, marginal CB talent.

If by chance we ever got an All Pro QB and Mr. B would not pay to keep him then you might as well hang up you hat and forget the Cards as they would never be contenders. We are already considered the armpit of the NFL. If we could ever draw some crowds then Mr. B might start spending some money. If he thinks a new stadium by itself will do it then he is really not smart. It is going to take nothing less than a contending team to fill those seats. If we continue business as usual it will take about one year and we will continue with our small crowds. I think Bidwill should have been required to spend a minimum amount of money on players by the people who are building the stadium before agreeing to construct it. He may just be in over his head to ever be able to afford to compete with other owners in the NFL>

I must admit that I do not have a clue who the Cards will draft. I doubt the draft Guru's do either. We cannot even figure out who has the final call on the draft selection for the Cards. Bidwill,Graves,Green,Bidwill Jr., a combination, the strength coach?

Green does. Graves might have to okay it. But there is no way Graves is going to tell DG who or who not to draft. He doesn't have the draft record DG has.
