Remember when BA said he was going to give AE 25-30 touches a game?

He must have been hitting the good whiskey pretty hard the night before.

In other news... PP admitted to doing the same thing on Punt returns the last 2 years...

Not really.... But it was THAT obvious.

Agreed.

And what would everyone be saying if PP got hurt on this 1st punt return of the 2015 season while trying to "break one", and was out for the season ?

Catch-22.

Andre Ellington will be the 4th running back on this team. The minute TJ Logan went down that was going to be the case.

Thus many of your will have to "endure his presence" for another couple of months.

Personally he looks the part the Cardinals will need for the role he plays. TJ Logan MAY be able to take over that role when he comes back.

Till then, he is on the final 53, IMO.

Best solution is to not have PP out there in the first place. He's to valuable to the team to risk injury. Stick Golden on returns.

Yeah, remember he was designing the entire offence around him.

Ellington makes plays in space. If the Cardinals use him that way he's a good player to have. Running him up the middle is stupid. I do believe that Logan will take his roll over this year or next.

Agreed.

It is good to have a punt returner that is both reliable and expendable at the same time. Sounds horrible but it is the truth.

I wonder how long Tyreek Hill stays in the role for KC full time, supposedly his receiving ability has increased significantly. Will be interesting to watch.

I just find it unsettling that BA couldn't find ANY other player on the roster to FC or run straight out of bounds.

Ellington is insanely successful as a 6th round pick. Based on cards standards anyhow. He has some big touchdowns, especially against Seattle. The talk in this thread would make some believe he was a first or second round pick.

Absolutely true, but let's be frank, he's a scat back. He's shown some ability to catch, and using him as a 3rd down back, old-school H-Back (like a TE but off the line), and/or possibly a punt returner would seem to be a good fit for his skill set. At least, that how I'd think someone with his body type and skills would fit a team like this.

Having said that, as a backup or in this kind of role, he's got to be able to take a hit and not dive out of contact like he has so many times in the past. I kinda expect it from him if he's starting or getting a lot of between the tackles runs, but normally he should be taking guys at pad level and hitting them as hard as they hit him.

What I find ironic is that a position where we are most set at, we cannot afford to have a luxury 'X' factor like Ellington and use him properly in space... if we could ever afford to have a back like Ellington, it's now

Oh, I totally agree he is really a scat back. I just thought the tone here was that he has been a total flop. And, that just isn't the case IMO. He had some great plays for us.

That said, I really like the Penny kid. He's a power runner, which can be big in those short yardage situations late in the games.
