I concede that, he will not be forced to stay against his will, but he will try to appease GS by signing with a team that can send something back in return.elindholm said:Golden State retains the rights to exceed the salary cap in order to re-sign Dampier -- not to force him to stay with the team against his will.
That could be why GS nixed the NYK deal, if that is where he really wanted to go. There is probably bad blood on both sides.elindholm said:but he will try to appease GS
I don't think so. All indications are that he really dislikes the Warriors. My guess is that he'd prefer to leave them with nothing.

Joe Mama said:I just read that the New York Knicks are all but out of the running for Erick Dampier. That article said the best deal on the table is a six-year deal from Atlanta for $50 million. I believe the Richardson deal is six years, $48 million.
For the money I would have preferred Divac (two-year deal) over Richardson. For the same money I would definitely prefer Dampier over Richardson. It would honestly be the difference between battling for a playoff spot and being a team that is battling for home-court advantage.
I didn't like Eric Dampier at six years, $70 million. I would be extremely happy with him for the same deal Richardson was offered.
Two more days.
