He'll be "retired" by the All Star break.

And to think that the Dbacks choose to give him the money over this guy.

Eric Byrnes was released recently by the Seattle Mariners. Talk about a one hit wonder though. Byrnes had a few elite seasons with the Diamondbacks. Then reality set in and he dropped back down to mediocrity. The Diamondbacks are better off with Chris Young and Justin Upton.

Right now, id rather have Kelly Johnson

I meant instead of Eric Byrnes. It is well documented that the Dbacks chose Byrnes over ODawg. They only had the money to sign one.

Also Johnson is hot and that's great but you shouldn't underestimate the value of a gold glove middle infielder. It seems like a lot of balls are trickling up the middle for hits and the team seems to be turning fewer double plays this year.

Actually that is NOT true.

Dbacks made a great offer to Hudson. He declined it. Ended up signing with LA for LESS than what the Dbacks offered.

AND THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED

But that was after they signed Byrnes which I believe effected the entire process with Hudson.

Doesn't every defensive metric point to Hudson being a mediocre 2B?

They gave Byrnes face of the franchise type money and offered Hudson basically peanuts in comparison, IMO. I can understand why Hudson was upset, everyone knew he was the better ball player.

He has never had an elite season in his entire life. He had a couple above average years with the Diamondbacks. Eric Byrnes' nickname should be "Fools Gold."

$30 million for a journeyman is one of the worst signings the Diamondbacks ever did. This franchise would be in a better situation if they never signed him.

Hudson should have took our deal he'd be making $7M a year instead of the what $4M he made last year and the $5M this year. No one will give him a long term deal now because of his age and proneness to injury. Rock on Kelly Johnson!

As for Byrnesy, if I was him I wouldn't mind anyone calling me worthless because my reply would be "I just banked $11M, how am I worthless?" Highway robbery his contract.

Thanks for digging that up. The "Dbacks low-balled O-Dogg" MYTH is like a Vampire - no matter how many times you kill it with the facts, someone resurrects it.

O-Dogg was the fool in this case.

By virtue of the fact that O-Dogg signed that 1 year $3 mil w/ deal w/ LA after what we offered him goes to show that he was the one who made the bad decision. IMO, he was breaking the bank, considering the economy the way it was and the fact that he was not a superstar 2B

Play for the D'backs, bat in the 3-hole.

Play for the Dodgers, wind up on the bench.

I guess he did learn a lesson.

Byrnes has found a new team. He is definitley the highest paid player on his team.

Like work in the media. Don't be surprised to see Byrnes pop up on television or radio. He got a taste of it with "The Eric Byrnes Show" as well as appearances during baseball's postseason on FOX, and he hosted his own radio show for a time.
I hope it's not in Phoenix. Eric Brynes makes Mark Grace sound like an intellect. And an adult.
