Maybe his snakes didn't go over well in the locker room.

Means coaches are fine with how the ILBs are doing in camp.

Hope it doesn't bite us in the ass in about 5 weeks.

I think Sims has some coverage skills & actually played decently when Lee got hurt for the cowpies last year. Strange move if u ask me given our situation at ILB

As a career 4-3 linebacker, the former 2006 first-round pick wasn't a good fit for Arizona's 3-4 defense. He didn't materialize into the player Arizona expected when it signed him on June 3, leading to Sims falling on the depth chart.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he released Sims two days before Arizona's first preseason game in order to give Sims a chance to find a new team.

"It was a fit," Arians said. "And I think [as] a veteran you owe him the respect to find a team that he can fit.

"I like where some of the young guys are so I let him go so that he could hopefully catch on real quick somewhere else."

I think Sims will struggle in coverage which is the only reason he was signed. Cards would prefer to go with Demens, Foote, Minter and Alexander over Sims as they are more familiar with the system and contribute more on teams.

You sure haven't, because I choose to use my own eyes and deductive reasoning rather than just resquawking what information is out there.

Sims has always been athletic but has never been able to transfer that athleticism to the field, even in coverage. I think that trend will continue. When you consider what the Cardinals lost in Dansby and Washington, it is two athletic LBs who can run. Those are traits we don't have on our roster. We then signed the most athletic LB available in FA in Sims. I am guessing if he shows that he is a sub par pass defender, he won't make the squad. That is what I believe happens. There is no point in keeping a player like Sims over guys like Demens, Minter, and Alexander if he doesn't bring any unique skills.

to cont...

Sure I can...because it makes sense that a team would prefer for it's younger players who are under contract to out perform a disappointing, vet who is on a 1 year deal. Every team wants it's younger players to be successful. Essentially, the battle is between Demens and Sims as Foote, Minter and Alexander are better players than those other two. So, between Demens and Sims, you can be sure the Cardinals would prefer for their younger LB to beat out their older one.

The last one.

Normally I'm not "that guy" but today I am going to be.

Point of fact, some posters on here DO have an IDEA of what happens in the NFL. Some posters DO understand how teams are built and what coaches want from their players. Some posters DO follow football as a sport and have a wide knowledge base of the entire league.

Posters aren't going to say, "so and so told me this was going to happen." Sorry, they aren't. This is a message board and it is in the purpose of discussion, however, some people are more informed than others. Somers, Bickley and Urban work the same way and generally have more access, but their word isn't gospel either. You take the information you have, apply it to the situation, and then deduct a likely solution. Everyone speculates, that is the reporting/information industry outside of the people who are actually making the decisions.

Let's all concede that just because it isn't being reported by a media outlet, doesn't make it untrue.

It won't, Sims has never been able to translate his athleticism into solid coverage skills.
