Looks like there's roughly a 32% chance that, if the lottery was held right now, that the Hawks would get one of the top three picks. Beyond that, according the mock draft, the Suns will end up with either Noah or Horford.

There's a 4 way tie for the 3rd worst record in the league right now between Atlanta, Charlotte, Philly & Milwaukee......and we play Charlotte on Wednesday so we can help Atl into the 4th worst record spot by beating the Bobcats.

How amazing it is that they have Chase Budinger listed as one of the lottery picks despite the fact that he and Lute have both said he's staying... ESPN needs to check their facts :doi:

We shall see if he comes out. We know that he is a likely lottery pick, and that is the bar that a lot of kids use when they decide on coming back or not.

Exactly, if he finds out he'll be a top 15 pick then he's likely to come out this year. The last thing he'd want to do is play another year (risking injury & a subpar year) and end up hurting his draft stock.

I disagree, I think Budinger is staying regardless. He wants to play w/ Bayless next year at UA. The only way I see him coming out is if whoever had the #1 pick told him they were going to take him (which obviously won't happen).

I pushed the lottery button about a 100 times, it was 2 to1 the suns would pick Al Horford over Atlanta landing in the top 3 picks. Brandon wright came up twice. (for whatever it's worth)

Here's another scenario

The Hawks get top 3. Oden stays another year, and the Suns get #1 next year.

Another scenario. If the Suns don't get Atlanta's pick this year (a very painful thought), the Suns should still be able to get a couple of quality players this year if they use the BPA method. However, with next year's Atlanta's pick (assuming it will be not as good), perhaps the Suns can still pick up that PG of the future as I understand it has more PGs available.

However, I really, really want that Atlanta pick this year, but two first round draft picks this year and two first round draft picks next year might not be the end of the world.

I'm now actually rooting for Atlanta to win. Also I'm thinking maybe Phoenix should have lost the second game they played with Atlanta as well.

i dont think i would mind the suns missing out on a lotto pick this draft. 1.) it'd help out our salary situation not having a guarranteed $4mil per year guy on the roster. 2.) besides a big man, the suns are pretty set as far as what this draft has to offer.

BUT, its hard to believe that the Hawks could be THIS BAD AGAIN next season. they have so much talent. and the 08 draft looks to be LOADED on PG talent. and if either of Oden or Durant (or both) stay for another year....well i dont know what i'd do.

i ran it over and over and man did atlanta get a top 3 pick often! that said, we almost always ended up with al horford (which i'd love). once we fell a little and ended up with thaddeus young, which also intrigues me.

Agreed... next year could be a huge year for U of A... yea, you're losing Mustafa, Ivan, and Marcus... but Bayless is going to be amazing, Chase with a year under his belt will be rid of any freshman jitters, Jordan Hill getting more time to develop, hopefully a healthy Kirk and Jawaan, plus add Jamelle Horne who has a lot of promise.

Next year could be the year for Lute to get another championship and hopefully Chase will stay and make it possible

Chase is staying. He wants to play with Bayless and he has told Lute before the season he was here for at least two years. I also think next year is Lute's last.

I posted this in the draft prospect thread but the Yi kid from China is by far my third favorite player in this draft and its not all that close. Look at the videos posted from youtube on the in the prospects section. For a seven footer the kid is agile, smooth, athletic, and has a nice shot out to 18 feet. I realize these are highlight videos but I am looking at the smoothness of his game and the ease at whice it seems to come to him. He would be a tremendous fit for the Suns and fits perfectly into their style of play...

The problem is if Atlanta gets a top 3 pick this year that means that they should get an impact player that will probably propel them to the playoffs in the East. Thus, the Suns end up with a similar situation like a couple years ago with the Bulls and end up with a late teen/early 20's pick.

Guys I have one question about the pick and how it works. I know that the Atl pick is top 3 protected, but if the pick ends lower than 3, are the Suns obligated to use the pick this year, or can they choose to instead take Atlanta's first round pick in 08?

I believe they would be obligated to use it this year.

Thanks GM. I know it doesn't really matter because I hardly believe a team would decline to use a lottery pick in the hope of moving higher next year.

NBADRAFT.NET has stopped showing Bud. IMHO, he needs to develop physically, but could be a top three guy in a year or two.

It looks like by default. With this draft class so strong, it's no wonder he could be a top 3 guy.

I expect several of the high profile freshmen will opt to stay in school. It's not just draft slotting, some guys aren't really ready to contribute immediately in the NBA. With the shorter window, guys cannot automatically expect to qualify for a big extension after their rookie contract if they don't contribute by their second year.

It should not be that surprising that Brandon Roy has had such a great year, considering he was a senior when drafted.

As a former UF student and fan, I was be SO PSYCHED if we could get Noah or Horford. Adding a young big like that to the team is just ridiculous.

Wow.....the Bulls have the Knicks pick this year. One of my mock lottery spins came up with Chicago taking Oden with the second pick. Now wouldn't that just be sick...
