I saw this headline on ESPN. Can anyone share the article or is that forbidden practice on this forum? How about summing it up and not copying the text?

Rumors: Amare could end up in Washington

I basically said the Wizards are will to give up their top 5 pick for him or Bosh, but it most likely would not happen since they would need to include one of "their three all stars" to make salaries match. I think all three of their all starts have seen much better days.

Insider needs to keep the money coming in, so when they don't have any real news, they just make something up.

That rumor doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Wouldnt it make more sense for the Wizards to see where they land in the lottery and try to get a true PG like Rubio? They could then slide Arenas over to the 2 for a lot of the time. If they can ever stay healthy they're certainly a playoff team in the East.

I think what they may be "reaching" at is the suns could get a top 5 pick, and maybe an expiring contract from Washington? Not sure what their three stars contact status is. For that to make sense, imho, the Suns would have to be looking to make a move at PG and not sign Nash long term, because in theory, they could get rid of Nash, Shaq, and possibly the Washington player in the following season, while building around a new young PG. Since the Suns keep insisting they want to sign Nash long term, and Shaq could be gone after next season anyway, unless they don't want to resign Amare it makes no sense to take Washington's "offer." The only way it makes any sense, is if the Suns really want to get rid of Amare. I'm thinking resign him, and then if the contract is decent enough, we can always trade him later.

Washington could acquire Amare without giving up Jamison, Butler or Arenas.

Theoretically Haywood, Songaila and Stevenson are enough to match salaries.

Would we even want the #5 pick??? It seems like after the 1st few picks there is huge dropoff and not much difference between the #5 or #12 pick. I see the Suns trading down in that scenario to save on salary.

I agree on that. If a trade is going down wait until it's decided exactly what pick it is... Suns have always had bad luck.

What newspapers do you read for good NBA coverage? I'm not a big fan of ESPN but I don't know about much else... Suggestions are welcome!

This is where this "rumor" came from.

Pretty much the guys idea is a 3 way trade. A lot of this hinges on the Wiz drafting Rubio.

Washington gets:
Amare

Phoenix gets:
Rubio
Blathe
Mike James (exp)
Etan Thomas (exp)
Bosh

Raptors get:
Nash

I read the article. It was pure conjecture. Not even a rumor. ESPN has become a joke.

Let's for one second imagine this would even happen. Your future main rotation (after expiring contracts and assuming we don't retain any of the expiring contract guys) would be:

Rubio/Dragic
JRich/Barbosa
Dudley/????
Bosh/Amundson
Blatche/Lopez

Pure fantasy...but sign me up. It's a good start to rebuilding the team after those expiring guys come off your books and you no longer have Shaq's salary.

For next year it would be interesting lineup:

Rubio/James (what would you do with Dragic?)
JRich/Barbosa
Dudley/Hill
Bosh/Amundson
Shaq/Blatche (Lopez would sit...no big loss there).

Looking at next years lineup in this scenario or even a future lineup above....this is a better defensive team then we have rolling out there right now and would be a good start.

Exactly. I have "insider" and 95% of it is junk. They write catchy lines to get people to sign up.

There's no way Toronto trades Bosh for Nash and our first...

But that'd be a dream scenario for us.

I hate the prospects of trading either Nash or Amare, let alone both in the same deal.

However, in this scenario, I'd kiss the ass of every single person in the province of Ontario and the District of Columbia if this happens.

Only problem is, Washington's facing some contract crunch, and I think in order to get Amare, they'd have to move one of their bigger contracts.. So...What about this deal?

To Washington: Amare
To Toronto: Nash, Barbosa
To Phoenix: Bosh, Calderon, Blatche, Jamison and Washington's 1st

This is the official first shot of the insane trade suggestion season. It is a long season and picks up steam until the draft. Then it slows for a while and picks up again in November coming to a full head in February.

Happy hunting.

Phoenix can also send the Coyotes to Toronto to sweeten the pot!

Id do it in a second for the Suns but it makes NO sense for Toronto.

Because essentially, they're trading Bosh for Nash; and they'd have a better chance of re-signing Nash when his contract is up.

Uh that doesnt make much sense. Youre going to trade a big man whos an All Star and good enough to play on the USA Olympic team for a rapidly declining Nash. Nash would be good in Toronto if Bosh was there, if they move Bosh, theyre rebuilding, and you dont bring Nash in.
