It doesn't look like this is a sourced article - more of a hunch, but interesting nonetheless. BTW - let it be known that I'm against a Nene-for-Q or Nene-for-JJ trade...

http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/rumorcentral?sport=nba&CMP=ILC-INHEAD

Dec. 6 - The Nuggets have two bargaining chips that could potentially land them a star at shooting guard. Nene and Nikoloz Tskitishvili both have seen their roles dramatically diminished with the signing of Kenyon Martin. Nene especially has tremendous trade value because of his size, athleticism and age. While GM Kiki Vandeweghe still maintains he doesn't want to move Nene, he might not have a choice. But the Brazilian native is miserable, according to sources, and wants a new home. Where could he land? ESPN Insider Chad Ford has some "educated guesses":

If the Suns are willing to part with either Quentin Richardson or Joe Johnson, something might work out. The Nuggets could swap Nene, Skita and Lenard to the Suns for Q, Maciej Lampe and Cabarkapa. Or they could swap just Nene and Skita for Johnson, Lampe and Cabarkapa.

The Bucks are falling apart, and it looks like Michael Redd, an unrestricted free agent after the season, will bolt. With Jason Richardson now locked up long-term, would a swap of Mickael Pietrus and Ansu Sesay for Nene work for the Nuggets?

No way would I do this deal with Denver it makes them better that the Suns. Plus I don't want to see Skita in a Suns uniform. I would be willing to do the deal with Casey instead of JJ.

Ok I had to check this out.....

Phoenix trades:
SG Casey Jacobsen(5.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.6 minutes)
C Jake Voskuhl(2.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 12.0 minutes)

Phoenix receives:
Nene Hilario(No games yet played in 2004/05)
PF Francisco Elson(3.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 15.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -4.5 ppg, -1.8 rpg, and -1.2 apg.
Denver trades:
Nene Hilario(No games yet played in 2004/05)
PF Francisco Elson(3.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 15.0 minutes)
Denver receives:
SG Casey Jacobsen(5.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.6 minutes)
C Jake Voskuhl(2.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 12.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +4.5 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and +1.2 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Denver being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Denver had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think either Elson or Nene will have to be moved. I would prefer the Jacobsen for Elson deal. Or Elson and Skita for Jacobsen and Charbarkapa.

Also we can't trade Q until latter in the season.

The Nuggets will not accept Jacobsen for Nene.

The Suns will not deal Johnson for Nene, although in my opinion they should think about it if they could get significant additional compensation (say, Tskitishvili and a first-round pick).

I don't think Richardson can be traded until later in the season (edit: as coloradosun just said).

Nene is not worth JJ or Q.

It would be insane if the Suns dealt Q after they just signed him anyway.

Anyone saw Denver vs Miami? Nene blew an open dunk. Almost airballed the dunk and it wasn't like he was short to complete it. He put it completely over the cylinder.

I really don't want to trade Lampe. I think he could be a really good high post center in a year or two, which would work well with our system. Not to mention we will still have the Chicago pick this year (hopefully) to shore up our front line. However if Chicago really goes down the drain and it is apparent that the Suns wont get the pick this year, then I could see the Suns making a trade for Nene.

I don't think Lampe will ever make it here.

He looks more like a PF than C to me and he can't defend. Lampe might have some value to other teams that are rebuilding now.

As long as we keep our starters and Barbosa/Hunter I won't complain about any trade.

It appears that Nene & Amare need to play inside to be effective. (although Nene has not been that effective)

The suns need a center to work with Amare like Lampe could if he had more experience.

I do not want Nene for JJ or Richardson.

Richardson can be traded after 12/15/2004. I think?

Nene has struggled lately, but he is a pretty good player in this league. Not to mention he has nice size & athleticism...

Like slin said. I would part with any player OTHER than the starters, Hunter & Barbosa. I would like to keep Zarko because I truely feel he has alot of potential if he can get tuffer mentally(thx Fortsen).

I do think if we offered Jacbson & the first, pluss fillers like Lampe/Vroman the Nuggets will get desperate and think hard about it.

If we had to I would trade Q later in the season for him.

Bulls pick

for

Nene
Nuggets pick
Magic pick

Edit: Nevermind I guess those 2 picks belong to New Jersey after Denver traded 3 picks for Martin.

Having both JJ and Q has been key to our success. Last night's game was a case in point. When one's not hot, the other is. Our high octane offense demands alot of potential "hot hands."

Who's to say that Nene is eventually going be more useful to us than Lampe or Hunter. Zarko and CJake are expendable, but we really do not have to deal for anyone right now. I am not really interested in making Denver better.

If we get to mid-season and a good deal materializes, we might deal JJ instead of trying to sign him this summer. No rash moves now. We've likely got a top 6-7 pick this summer, and we've got some young players to develop. With those kinds of options, dealing is not necessary.

If it ain't broke. . . .

I'd love that trade. Can't imaging the Nugs would do it, but you never know.

The question is what do we want with a high pick really?

We don't have enough playing time anyway and we look like we can win now so we can't afford to devellop a bunch of young players with our already young core.
Almost all lottery picks are projects it looks like. Especially the big man.

I do agree that we dont need to go crazy right now. The only deal we should make right now is one that ONLY involves bench players other than Barbosa & hunter & draft picks.

Later in the season if we think we need to get bigger then we can think about a Q or JJ trade.

I thought JJ's contract is up at the end of this season? The way he is playing right now, he will probably want a big contract which Suns can't offer. Which means Suns better trade him so they can get something in return. That's what I heard couple of weeks ago from some radio show. I don't know if this is true...

It is true, but the Suns CAN match any offers if they want.

JJ is becoming a pretty damn good player. I feel he fits in alot with the Suns because like Marion he gets alot of his points with out plays called for him.

IMO that is very important because Amare still isnt getting enought touches. He should be getting 40-50% of the half court plays right now. Not only because he is so good but he generates so many fouls for the other team.

IF we were going to make a trade for a big man, which I don't think we necessarily will, Nene is my 3rd choice.

Out of you bigs that are available, I would rather go for

Chandler
Dalambert
Then Nene.

All 3 players have similar trade value, although Dalembert may be a little lower.

The biggest thing is Chandler and Dalmebert fit with this current suns teams. They are 100% centers, and are athletic shotblockers/rebounders. Nene just isn't.

And for those of you who claim Tyson is a bust, I have watched his last to games and been very impressed. When his energy is there, he goes after every board possible. I watched him dive on balls in non critical moments of the game just to secure it. Not to mention he changes every shot in the lane. The only thing to worry about with him is his health.

It looks Suns will be in luxury tax burden again??? Marion is maxed, Nash and Q is pretty up there. Amare needs a max contract obviously. Probably teams who has cap space will probably offer JJ a pretty big contract?

In another section of Insider today (I can't cut and paste it for some reason), Ford says the Suns are being bombarded w/ calls about Johnson and Q, and Ford says he spoke w/ Bryan Colangelo, who said they're playing so well right now he's hesitant to do anything at all, said there's something to be said for chemistry. Good answer, in my opinion.

I agree with that order. I've always thought Chandler would be a good fit at the 5 for this team.
