:sarcasm: below but would this surprise anyone?

"Cardinals brass secretly traveled to American Samoa Community College in Samoa Islands to scout a walk on Kicker who never missed a kick for their divsional IX football team. The player was previously a DE before moving to new position as a kicker"

This is gold

He wasn't mediocre. You can complain about his health but he was in no way mediocre. In 2016 he completed over 70% of his passes & 65% in 2015.

Dinking and dunking his way towards field goals or punts. He was at the helm of a team that was 6-1 and missed the playoffs... because he couldn’t generate offense. Because he’s NEVER generated offense anywhere.

Not an Alex Smith supporter, but would he be better off with DJ doing that kind of thing? Not discounting that Hunt was the league's leading rusher, but that he's still a rookie and seemed to get a little gassed into it.

If we HAD to go Bradford or Smith, I’d take Smith. But really don’t want either.

It all depends on the compensation and coach for me. The rumors of Smith going for as high as a second (or two) round pick make me worried. I'd only want Bradford if Shurmur was our coach and Keenum wasn't available.

If none of these things sort themselves out, I start getting into the depressing idea of trying to sign McCown. At this point, what I really want us to do is pay Cousins. If Shurmur is here, that changes.

I fail to understand the fascination with Keenum who has a sample size of a season in which he was instrumental in 2 perhaps 3 games.

And, Shumur had a longer history with Bradford

It all ties into cost and the system. Just like Stanton was invaluable in getting the team up to speed given his experience in the Arians system, Keenum can provide a young QB with that, and play for a couple of years at a decent price. The only reason I hold Keenum in more esteem than Bradford is that Bradford can't seem to stay on the field. A bridge QB isn't worth anything if he can't play more than 5 games a year. But if Keenum's not there, we don't have a ton of other options.

I have the same feeling about Bridgewater - I'm not against bringing him on board but his health is a legitimate concern.

I keep repeating that Bradford played 29 games in 2015 / 2016 and he's back with the team.

you continuing to repeat that doesn't make others forget that he's been out all this season, missed 9 games in 2014, and 6 games in 2013.

Or change the fact that in 80 games, he's thrown a paltry 100 TDs, while throwing 57 picks, and never leading any of his offenses to jack squat.

He's injury prone, mediocre and costly. Why anyone wants that on our team is beyond me.

Bradford is that itch you got to scratch no matter what. Someone will with a 3 year deal for him.

If Shurmur comes here I don't care who he brings with him. I'll trust the fact that he is his guy.

Interesting. Also a system we use. Seems Keenum is a fan of this, and it helped him at the least, learn an offense quicker.

http://www.espn.com/blog/minnesota-...ayed-a-role-in-transforming-case-keenums-game

How more than 2,500 virtual reality reps helped transform Case Keenum's game

That was at a time when he wasn’t getting first-team reps, but even after Sam Bradford went down and the Vikings turned to Keenum, the quarterback chose to stick with VR.

“A lot of guys who are starters don’t think they need it anymore because they’re getting reps on the field,” Belch said. “[Keenum] said, ‘No, I think this is something that would be even more valuable as a starter as a supplemental preparation tool.’”

As a result, Keenum has had thousands of additional mental reps. In total since he took over starting duties in Week 2, Keenum has viewed 2,647 plays through virtual reality, which translated to him getting to review every play the Vikings have run this season two to three times from a mental standpoint over the course of the year, according to STRIVR’s tracking data.

All of that has added up to hours of cumulative mental practice on top of what he’s doing physically.

Belch is quick to note that STRIVR can’t be credited for a player’s performance, but he points to compelling data the company has tracked on players who have used the technology and had the best years of their career.

Take, for example, how well Keenum has performed under pressure this season. His 59 QBR when pressured was the highest in the NFL, as was his 88 QBR when facing a blitz, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

Could that be the result of his VR training?

“He’s getting better, not getting worse, because he’s putting more work in and getting more comfortable every week in their system,” Belch said. “Carson Palmer, Tony Romo, guys [STRIVR has worked with] in veteran systems, they were like, ‘Man, I wish I had this when I was a rookie because it took me three years to get comfortable in the offense.’ He’s had less than one year to learn an entire offense and it’s turned out really well.

Would Minnesota dare to franchise Case Keenum? Asking for a friend...
They could franchise one and transition another, right?

Edit: N/M it's either or for the tags.

I could see them tag him. They know what they have the most with him.

Palmer was a big fan of this system wasn't he?

Yes he was. It stands to reason that a person having a positive reaction to it both on and off the field would possibly increase his 'fit' with our organization.

Plus he would hit the ground running with it.

What many people don't know: Shurmur was an offensive lineman for Michigan State and had numerous stints as OL coach before specializing on developing QBs. Also has experience as ST coach. Munchak obviously is a HOF OL, but hasn't been working directly with QBs very much. Most recently Shurmur succeeded with Foles and Keenum as his QBs, 2 QBs that are considered below-average starters at best. This shows that he has a great scheme that puts QBs in position to succeed. Let's call it QB-friendly, polar opposite of Arians. You can see it the successful playoff teams all run some type of WCO, and most offensive HC candidates (Nagy, DeFilippo, Shurmur) are basically from that same Andy Reid WCO coaching tree. I think Shurmur could work wonders for a young QB in terms of getting him ready to take the field quickly. Also when you see what he's done with Dalvin Cook early in the season and then later with McKinnon/Murray, you have to be excited what he could do with David Johnson.

Pat Shurmur has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Bruce Arians and become the Arizona Cardinals' next head coach, sources have told ABC15 sports director Craig Fouhy.

The 52-year-old Shurmur is currently the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Sources have told Fouhy that Shurmur, who has already interviewed for the Cardinals job, is an attractive candidate in part because he could potentially lure Vikings QB and soon-to-be free agent Case Keenum to Arizona.

In case anyone is doubting Fouhy's sources: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/forum/posts/3587947/
