The performance Matt put on was ridiculous, man… considering this was his moment to shine. Call it “pressing”, having his confidence erode… whatever. “Players” show up when they have the most on the line. Matt clearly didn’t show up… in fact, he didn’t even seem that enthused.

All I know is even during the fumble sequence with Kurt, the entire offense just “felt” more vibrant to me as I watched them. The one completion Kurt threw to Q along the sideline, when he spiked the ball pretty aggressively after the reception almost seemed to me like it was an “about time!” toss. Maybe I’m reading too much into that, but that is what went through my mind when I first saw it.

No way Whis can defend Matt after that and not give the nod to Kurt… no way, no how.

Man I just think it is way too early to call this thing a wrap. Matt just needs reps period. No one learns from the bench.
Romo, Farve, Young and many more did fine. In fact it used to be the only way until rookie contracts forced inexperienced men to play. Matt will be fine. He will learn, and be more confident the next chance he gets.

I thought Anderson re-signed for several years?

Not much out there next season but I do agree with you on the Qb situation. It's pretty disturbing that at this point the jury's still out on our future at the three most important positions on the field (LT, QB, RB).

Nope 1 year contract. It was shocking considering the year he had. I assume he believes he is playing for a big FA contract for next year. Browns want Quinn on the field.

not sure if I totally agree with this as we were 3-2 last year when Matt went down. Now considering that Matt wasn't his pick and it was his first year, I think Wiz was probably pretty okay with seeing where Matt was because there was no pressure on him to win immediately. However, if he had been able to see where he was and he still stunk at the end of the season, I think... eh, I don't know. You didn't bring this up, but someone probably will about the Giants sticking with Eli who struggled his first couple years, but Matt had nowhere near the success Eli did in his second year (24 tds/20 turnovers) while leading the G-Men to a pretty decent offense and being at the helm of a 10-6 team... I'm rambling. Bottom line, I think last year was a throwaway year for Wiz to see what he did and didn't have and Matt getting hurt put a big crick in those plans, as again, Wiz is saddled with two QBs, neither of which he's probably all that happy he has to go to war with.

agreed wholeheartedly on this.

Maybe, but Warner was in the game for a couple of series of each of those first games and clearly made the offense move. Leinart stats from last year were terrible. Worse QB rating in the NFL through those first games. I just felt then, and still do, Whiz really wanted to start Warner because he was clearly moving the team where Matt wasnt.

Maybe you are right on the "no pressure" thing, but Graves repeatedly said he thought there was enough talent to win now and that there focus in the draft last year and this off season was depth.

Not true,

They want Quinn to be brought in slowly, to relieve the pressure a young QB faces. I wish we could have done that with Leinart, but Warner forced our hand.

The one to the left 2nd Q or to the right 3rd Q?

I ask becaues the one to the right the DB fell down leaving Q uncovered, after the catch the safety hit Q really hard. And in typical Q fashion, the safety got hurt and missed the rest of the game, Q was fine. So if that's the one I think the spike was more of a "I'm a grown ass man" statement about
the guy who hit him winding up hurt.

Yeah, it was the one on the right… and it very well could have been Q doing precisely what you suggest. It was just my impression at the time, and I totally could have been misreading that.

Or... It could have just been me focusing through the bottom of my Dos Equis bottle on the play… that wouldn't shock anyone.

I didn't notice it the first time around but when I watched it last night I'd already read in the paper the safety, Baker I think, got hurt. So when I saw the hit I realized afterwards Q was fine but the Raider S limped off and apparently didn't come back. I didn't see a spike but I'm guessing he was sort of telling the guy that'll teach you to take a shot at me on the sideline.

Raiders had a bunch of injuries, Drew Carter tore his ACL and the FB on the opening kickoff they said his knee is so bad it's career threatening.

So we got lucky with injuries saturday.

you forget quickly that Matt isn't allowed mistakes.
You mean the way he started out the season last year? You mean the way Wise
benched him temporarily instead of outright replacing him after an atrocious start ( 2 TDs - 4 INTs)? You mean the way Wise protected him by keeping him as the starter after Warner ended up in the top 10 QB's in the league in just 11 games? You mean the way Wise is still protecting him after the Raider game?

So, tell me who isn't allowed to make mistakes?
