My wife and I love it !!

Something I didn't realize as we watched the first season:

The episodes of season one were not aired in the order intended by the show's creators. This is suggested by the episodes' production numbers which are displayed on the SCI FI's Eureka website next to episode titles quite often. There are some small inconsistencies when watched closely, but such inconsistencies are minimal and were intentionally controlled. In podcast commentaries with the show's creators and star Colin Ferguson, they confirm that the production order is in fact the order in which they intended the show to air, but the network executives changed the order to try and place stronger episodes earlier in the run to help attract viewers. The creators were able to make minor changes in editing and sometimes dubbed dialogue in later episodes (for instance, they removed the explicit mention of Zoe's first day at school) to try to eliminate audience confusion.

I just realized I haven't seen this in a while. Is it on hiatus? Canceled? Or is my DVR just missing it for some reason?

The network requested 21 episodes (up from 13), but the strike affected the show in that they only finished 8 episodes before breaking to make the rest.

Here's some info: http://eurekaunscripted.tumblr.com/

Ugh. Returns early to mid-09.

That hardly seems like a break considering this year's season started in July (otherwise known as "mid-08").

Dang. I was hoping the marathon meant they were gearing up for a new season sooner than that.

Thanks for the info, though, guys.

This show is like a great sauce with a missing ingredient. I don't know what it is but it just feels "almost there." Wish I could put my thumb on it.

I've spoken with a lot of people who don't like the show (I know that's not what you're saying). I think some people just don't "get it."

I think they ought to lean a little heavier on a running storyline that makes you ask "WTF?" after every episode. That's what's so good about LOST, what was so good about the first season of Heroes and what, for me, makes a great scifi series.

On a side note, I heard "Handlebars" by the Flobots the other day and I thought it would make a great music montogue of a Eureka villain scheming the end of the world and building his doomsday device or some such tomfoolery.

It's back, baby!

I love this show but am I the only sci-fi fan that's grown weary of all the alternate timeline/alternate reality episodes? I'm really glad it's back on but I hope it runs through this arc quickly.

I have a feeling this one will last a while. The crux of it is going to be Jack and Allison's desire to keep the timeline altered, I think.

They need to get to an over-all arc that has some kind of sinister mystery behind it, and that might well happen with the physicist from the past (the battlestar guy) showing up in his future--I smell a rat.

I think you're right about it lasting awhile but I'm not sure either Jack or Allison will ultimately want to keep it altered. There are obvious reasons for both but Jack has been down this road before (living a life that gets ripped away from you) and Allison's gain also includes loss.

I hadn't considered the possibility that "Baltar" was motivated by nefarious designs. I just assumed he was running from his probable punishment but your guess has merit. I suspect you're right. I guess I'll just have to live with the alternate reality aspect.

I am probably completely way off but is it possible some of these changes will be permanent? Probably not but I like the twist it has on the show. Well one of them was a little obvious. IMO the entire Jack's alternate reality was a way to use the typical formula of manufacturing reasons why the two stars don't get together. I had seen that coming as soon as I realized they had changed things.

However, some of the other changes might be good to keep. Like Allison's son for instance. It's a great way to spin things off in a different direction. Besides, isn't the past changed forever anyway? I mean even if you get the good Doctor back to his time, the things he has seen would seem to change things anyway.

Either way......love the show.

The news keeps getting better. No 6th season now. It will end it's run after season 5 and the Holiday special.
