Bad special effects, plodding story and some pretty gaping plot holes. It has a phenomenal cast that IMO was completely wasted.

Most of all though, and this is probably 90% of why I hated it; after seeing a real documentary about climbing; Meru, which was fantastic (I HIGHLY recommend it), this was really, really hard to take seriously.

Pass on this one boys and girls. If you are in the mood for a climbing movie, go see Meru.

The book this movie was based on (Into Thin Air) is flipping fantastic. Too bad about the way this movie turned out. I will check out Meru Bert. Thanks for the recommendation.

man, was this movie incredibly mediocre. didn't even make good use of 3D.

and Hollywood's made A LOT of climbing movies over the years... none of them (save Cliffhanger) seem to have been successful.
